A chance meeting... Life didn't turn out the way I'd ever hoped it would. I got pregnant at 14. Same year my mom got diagnosed with MS. Dad bailed on us and my life felt like it suddenly started to spiral out of control. I'm 21 now, I go to college, I work hard, trying to make something of myself. I wasn't supposed to be at that burlesque bar Valentine's Day. I wasn't supp ...more

A Moment...
I killed myself tonight.
Or at least I tried. But a woman I do not know refused to let me die. Liliana Delgado wrapped me up in her slim arms and told me things would be okay. But she doesn't know the demons I live with. The things that have happened to me. Every morning is a struggle just to get out of bed and the nights are even worse. But the way she smiles at me... I feel something I've never felt before.
...will change our lives...

** Semi-Spoilery (but nothing too major) **

I'm trying to keep this review as spoiler free as possible and most of what I've written can either be gleaned from the synopsis or is fairly evident early in the novel. I have not revealed any huge plot twists.

Recently I've found myself bitching a lot. Mostly about sexual assault and the way in which its victims seem to be portrayed in the Y/A & N/A books I've read lately. It seems there's this need to either minimize it or create characters who ar

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review and I'm participating in the blog tour. The synopsis of this book intrigued me and I seriously had no clue what to really expect from the book. I loved that the book starts off with 14 year old Liliana with her father ~ terrified, alone ~ where she was and why made me...

She spots a gorgeous guy who she thinks locks eyes with her but did he? Ryan he's at the same place ~ pissed off, alone, but liberated? Why he was there made me.....

So, I gobbled this New Adult uber-angsty read in one sitting. There were 3 things I liked a lot and 1 thing that urked me.

What I liked...

1. This author made me believe that an alpha male, Ryan, can still shine through even after being completely bared at his most vulnerable to his heroine, Lili. My goodness, after an initial and pivotal scene, which takes place after the H/H meet, I was already taken by the depth and complexity that could potentially arise, and I'd anticipated it as t

Well written, heart wrenching new adult story. Ryan reminds me of my Drew in ways...

Plus, Marie is a total sweetheart. Go read this book people!

" I love him. Love this man with scars with scars so deep they terrify me. I'll do anything to save him. I know that now. And when he whispers my name again, I know in that instant he's ruined me for anyone else. Because this is love. And it's beautiful.

Nothing comes easy to Liliana, at 21 years old, she have a 7 years old autistic son and a mother with MS. Her dad left them, leaving to Lili to take care of them all and to provide for the whole family.
But Lili is such a strong character, betwe

I'm still undecided about this story. I've just finished the book. What words immediately spring to mind are: - dark, intense, brutal, fiery, terror. All of which are gathered in the pages of A Moment.

Lily is a 21 year old college student with a 7 year old autistic little boy, and a mother with MS. Life isn't pretty for her. She gets by every day hoping for a little love, even just a look from her son. She gets love returned from her mother but Lily knows that time is getting short for her Mama.
Initial reaction: Probably going to rate this around 1.5 - 2 stars. It's not that I don't think this book touched on some rather tough themes (sexual abuse, teen pregnancy, etc.), but there were parts of this that felt so derivative and drawn out that I didn't care for it. Hopefully I can explain more in my full review.

This is a free read, yes FREE!! After reading the synopsis I quickly went to one-click only to have amazon tell me already have it. Don't be clicking a million times on the same book, bitch. So I went through my kindle app thinking no amazon you lie! I would have read it by now.But then to my utter shock at the bottom, there it was. How dare I neglect this book? I wanted so much to rate this book higher, but no.

I mean, it's easy to get swayed with oh-my-god-this-is-so-beautiful, but in reality, this story lacked. It's gonna be weird to review it because I really did love it. I just didn't love it.

While I thought Ryan was an amazing character - the rawness of what he was going through, the way Marie Hall told his story without saying a word and you pieced it all together and were dreading the moment you heard it all because you knew it was going to be th

Tough Critic Book Reviews
This is one of those books you want to force yourself to love. Force yourself because it has so many amazing components. But somehow, those components didn't quite fit together to complete the love puzzle.

The great pieces of this book were glossed in uniqueness. Ryan and Liliana have both had their past hardships, but it's Ryan who has the demons; the heartbreaking past to overcome. He's been hurt and for once the guy needs to be saved. The story revolves around his issues. It was refreshing.

My enjoyment of this book was rather up and down but as it got to me in the end I'm going for 3.5 - 4 stars.

The book is very slow paced and nothing much actually happens. No big events beyond the biggy at the begining. This is not a criticism at all. It may be against some books but not this one. This is a book about an emotional journey. Ryans journey to trust, to believe in himself, to let love heal. Lili's journey to

Dear Ms. Hall,

I must say that I'm pretty amazed, due I didn't expect this kind of book.
This is a good example of a well written book with a lousy [my apologies, but it's true] cover.

Ryan is a 25 years old ex-marine [or was navy? I got confused here] that has a dark, deep secret, which allows him to be consumed by shame and pain; Liliana is a 21 years old college student... and mom of an autistic boy, which knows about abandon.

I loved both main characters in this book, Lili and Ryan. Lili has had a hard life...getting pregnant at 14, her father leaving the family, having an autistic son, a sick mother, and going to college. I admire her strength. Ryan has his own dark, disturbing, demons from the past, and my heart broke for him. Their love for one another is undeniably beautiful and true...I loved them together.

I give this book 5 stars because I love a book that makes me feel every emotion.... I felt hurt, scared, happy ,sad ,disappointed ,ashamed, Ryan and Lilli became my friends and I completely fell in love with both of them.
Lilli's Spirit was strong. She's the kind of girl who loves hard and has no idea how great she is. And she was the only person that could save the broken beautiful Ryan. From all his pain and anguish that he was drowning in. If you like books that tug on your heart strings and ke

Judging this book by its cover:
The cover of this book is OK. It's probably something I'd pass right over in the store, to be honest. I don't find it very intriguing.

I really enjoyed this book. It was about life's struggles and how all it takes is a single moment to change us or our paths forever. The decision to have sex at a young age made Liliana a mother struggling to get by, and demons from Ryan's pa

Ryan is a local fighter, an ex Marine with a secret so dark it haunts him almost nightly. Especially on Valentines Day, that is the one day of the year he goes out and drinks and drinks, hoping to drown away the pain. He is so broken, he thinks he is beyond repair.

Lili, a single mother and collage student, has had a hard life. Her mother is dying, her son, 7 is autistic and she feels that he doesn't love her. She's trying her best to take care of both of them while working and going to school.

This new adult book is dealing with real problems that felt raw, dark and gut-wrenching. It talks about pain and about trying to heal with love. Both characters Lili and Ryan has issues on their own. Liliane has a 7 years old autistic son (Javi) and a dying mother. She's really young (21) and has to work, go to school and take care of the two persons she loves the most. She doesn't spend time for herself and thinks her son doesn't loves her. It's really hard

In a story that is vastly different from previous reads from her, Marie Hall brings us a contemporary, New Adult story that is romantic, heart wrenching, difficult and fully geared to readers who are over 18.

In each of the stories that I have read from Marie, she imbues her characters with such lifelike qualities and issues that they literally could walk among us, and probably do. This is a twist, in which she deals with some very serious elements for her characters, and yet each is presented w
