The author of this book just died this past January, a day after his 102nd birthday. He was a dear friend of mine, one of the original board members of the community college where I worked, a lover of libraries and books, who never had any formal education, but was nevertheless an educated man. I helped him transcribe, edit and publish this collection of reminiscences of his time in Montana during the 1920's when he was a young man.
