These are the types of questions that Doreen Virtue is regularly asked by her readers and workshop attendees. So, finding no comprehensive book that listed New Age and Old Age deities, Doreen knew that she needed to write one herself. Archangels and Ascended Masters is a thoroughly researched book in a lively encyclopedia format, listing 77 divinities from Greek, Roman, Eg ...more

This is an excellent reference book for learning about Archangels and Ascended Masters about their history in human life during their time, how they helped other people during their time and how it resolves the negative energy into positive energy by using any of the Archangels Or Ascended Masters to help you guide you to the positive spiritual, physical or Mental path of good energy. I give this book 5 stars.

I keep this book on my nightstand, and thumb through it constantly. A must-read for anyone interested in healing works & prayer, especially anyone interested in Buddist, Catholic, Jewish, New Age and classical studies. As well, there are some beautiful invocations and prayers in the back of the book. The book also includes a compendium of the Archangels. There are prayers for global and personal peace, prayers to heal an ailing pet - even prayers and invocations to further your yoga practice ...more

This book can be regarded as a handbook, guidebook or reference book on the subject og archangels, various divinities and the like.

The innumerable archangels, goddesses, gods, ascended masters etc are listed in alphabetical order. A couple of pages of information are given for each being.

The author encounters these various beings in diverse nature or power spots around the globe. In each case she provides us with a basic description of the being, including historical or mythical information, the

I loved this book, it really made me open my mind to what is out there, and who we can ask for help. I now know who to ask for help for different situations, and I feel my prayers are answered and I understand the heavens. I feel like I can pray freely, without restriction, and that God has no restrictions and conditions. So many people have the concept of religion wrong. It really is so simple & basic My whole idea of religion has changed, I feel as if I belong somewhere now and know I can ...more

A great reference book. I love the way Doreen has the index in the back so you can either look up by Archangels or look up the particular issue you want help with.

I have to say I completely believe that all we have to do is ask for help from the angelic realm and they instantly are there to help us. Not saying that prayer alone doesn't work; I've jsut noticed that I feel closer to the angels when I know a name of who to ask for when dealing with a specific problem/issue. I recommend everyone rea

For a variety of reasons, I picked up this book, and while I find the treatment of each "character" rather superficial, the fact that so many of them are collected in one place makes this a useful reference. A few did resonate with me (especially Archangel Gabriel, who had appeared in an encouraging card reading a few weeks ago). i notice the author has a whole bunch of these types of books out, dealing mainly with angels and the like. Eh. Makes me hesitant to go beyond this one book. Oh, and th ...more

A great book for dipping in and out of. Very user friendly. It's simple to locate the Ascended Master you want, and the information available is concise, but with plenty to spur you on to discover more.
I love the fact that Dr Virtue also gives a list of the areas in which each divinity can help.

She is a very compassionate and interesting writer who tells you the connections with the angels and ascended masters. She gives you basic information about them and her encounters with them or with their energy. Very useful book if you are writing blogs on the topic.

Never thought I'd find myself reading something like this, but I am finally feeling comfortable enough to explore things out of my comfort zone without judgment.

And you know what? I dig it.

I return to this book constantly! A wonderful resource.
The information on each one of the individuals listed in this book is very detailed and informative. This book is a great read. I loved every second of reading it. I continue to look up information in this book, to this day. I would absolutely recommend this book to everyone.

Doreen Virtue's books tend to be a bit cursory, there are some erroneous statements made (there are more than two Archangels whose names do not end in -el, for example), and despite her attempts to simplify concepts, there is still an assumption that the reader should be familiar with the tenets of Theosophy. I would have liked to have read more about personal experiences with each of these entities. Enjoyable, fairly informative, but as with most of the author's output from Hay House these days ...more

I like reading about different masters. But I find it difficult how she invokes all of them to help her write this book. All answered her? For me doubtful. I see she research too and showed where she got the information. I don't think she should have said she asked for their help. I think it would be more believable if she just said she researched it. A little disappointed.

I like that this book isn't pretending to be more than it actually is. It's a correctly made handbook about the archangels and ascended masters though according to the title, I'd either expect only ascended masters or then change the title to "Archangels, Gods and Ascended Masters", for that I don't really understand why gods and goddesses counts as ascended masters. Maybe Doreen Virtue knows better... I'd have expected also a little bit more thorough research about each, and I don't really like ...more

2nd Reading.

Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...

1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.

2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.

3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick

awesome go to book for guidance on the masters and Arch Angels.
I will keep this one in my library. I have many friends who believe in angels as beings who interact with them in present day. I'm skeptical however and tend to stay with my understanding of them as celestial beings who serve the Creator. That said, this is an interesting description of the more metaphysical angels and Doreen Virtue is a prolific and respected author of metaphysical literature.

I thought this book was a great beginner's guide to angels, and deities of all kinds. I read the kindle version (thanks to hay house for having so many kindle books available while I was living abroad). I liked that Virtue inlcuded categories of the areas that each deity or angel can help with and also that this book is not oriented to anyone of a particular religion.

Recommends it for: Anyone drawn to it.
I found this book really intense. As I was reading about each entity, some of them came through and I felt intense energy shifts. In particular, I know I will be working with Aphrodite, Ganesh, and several spirits for protecting the home in the future. The section on Quan Yin made me cry and released something big.

I was looking forward to reading this book and gaining insight into some of Doreen's deeper knowledge. It only provides short descriptions of the Archangels and Ascended Masters, together with beautiful illustrations, that can be found elsewhere in her work. It is good, but not great.

I LOVE this book and I'm a huge Doreen Virtue fan. This book I keep at my bedstand and use as a reference book all the time. You don't read it from cover to cover you just pick it up when your guides are calling to you.

“Never become a slave or captive to any person, substance, or situation. Be a willing servant. Give freely from a willing heart. In this way, you ensure freedom from the ensnarement of resentment, which builds up like plaque around the fond heart and extinguishes rapture. Give freely to your love, without regard for reward or consequences, but simply motivated by the pure pleasure that comes from giving … and that is its own reward.” 1 likes
“Worry never helped anything, so why turn to it during times of need? It won’t nurture or heal you—quite the opposite, actually. It’s so much better to put the effort into something creative as a way to quietly meditate through positive action. Create, create, create!” 1 likes
