Simon Lester Henry Strauss is not afraid of anything. He's not afraid of witches, ghosts, or vampires, screaming ghouls or goblins. Simon Lester Henry Strauss and his friends visit a haunted house, and while Simon's friends run and scream from all of the house's ghastly inhabitants, Simon loudly proclaims that "I'm Simon Lester Henry Strauss, and I'm not afraid of this haunted house." I don't normally review the picture books I read to my kids, but...

My four year old boy loved it.
My ten year old girl loved it.
I loved it.

Very fun to read with a snooty Malfoy-like voice, and funny at the end.

Parents who avoid more gross things with their kids might want to steer clear. It does joke about eating spiders, "blood and brains," and "Guts and veins." It is a Halloween book though it you can accept it with that in ...more

A humorous tale of a young boy and his friends who take a tour of a haunted house. Inside they meet a witch, a ghost, a werewolf, a vampire and other creepy entities. But Simon Lester Henry Strauss is not afraid of this haunted house! However his friends are having a rather rough time of it.

Simon Lester Henry Strauss is not the least bit afraid of the haunted house. He scoffs at the things that terrorize the other children. He proceeds through with great braggadocio, so proud of his fearlessness...until the very last page. Everyone has SOMETHING he or she is afraid of.

Fun to read outloud and kids really get a kick out of the rhyming repetition and the joke at the end. Great illustrations too. Simon Lester Henry Strauss is one guy I read about every year.

This is a current favorite in my house. It's about a boy who is brave in the face of every creepy crawly thing inside a haunted house-well, almost everything!
