In this dynamic anthology of 22 essays by and about women who are bisexual, the unifying element is its focus on the crucial intersections between ideology and reality. Deeply reasoned and passionately felt, the essays speak to many who wonder where they fit in today's society and its sexual politics.

This was a book I very much needed to read. As with all the other 20th c bi writing I've read lately, it did annoy me for its almost total ignorance of trans* issues or even existence. HOWEVER. This book deserves major points for actively engaging not only with the travails of being bi in the lesbian community, but for several essays which look for specifically bi, feminist ways of thinking about dating men. I note in particular Vashti Zabatinsky, 'Some Thoughts on Power, Gender, Body Image and ...more

Choosing a star level was a little difficult. Ultimately, I'd like to give it a 3.5. I'd suggest a 3 based on the repetitiveness of the essays within. However, in terms of information and what I find to be an important and undervalued subject matter, as well as good essays overall, I give it a 4.

What I think I find most fascinating about this collection of essays is the duality of "clearly dated" and yet "still very relevant". There are times when it is obvious that the book was written (printed

A great anthology of essays on bisexuality and feminism. I would love to see what this book would be like today, though. While bisexuality continues to be relatively invisible, the lesbian feminism that so much of this book responds to isn't nearly as much of a cultural factor in the LGBT community now as it was back in the early '90s.

It took me awhile to read this book. It was much like an academic book. The essays had a general theme of the difficulty for bisexuals to own where they fit in society. Acceptance from homosexual groups is not always easy or clear -cut.
