Sally Porter is a drab waitress, divorcee, and loner in the great city. But, though she is unaware of it, she is also four other, quite different people: Nola, the cold independent artist who has a studio in Greenwich Village; Derry, the happy-go-lucky tomboy; Bella, the sexpot with a talent for singing and dancing; and finally Jinx, the hate- filled killer.

I have to say that the personalities of Sally are too ideal... as if they're from the textbook.
But comparing to The Minds of Billy Milligan, through Fifth Sally I've learned more things about MPD.
1. So actually those "persons" didn't die or disappear; instead, they became parts of Sally. Just like part of me likes art such as dancing, and drawing and part of me likes science and psychology, but I didn't develop individual personalities out of them.
2. Environments matter a lot, but what matter

It was a fictional story about a woman with 5 personalities. It was tame compared to the real life accounts. The Billy Mulligan book he wrote was more exciting.

Buku ketiga tentang Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) yang saya baca tepat setelah baca Tell Me Your Dreams-nya Sidney Sheldon.

Five different personalities inside Sally's mind. Each of them is special, and each of them want to take over Sally's body and mind... In the end, either they'll live in harmony inside Sally or fight for the right to control Sally's body.
Author Daniel Keyes played with our mind, intrigues each of us. Which personality will survive? Can they stop Jinx for creating chaos everywhere? Can Bella stop getting into troubling relationship with men? Oh, not to mention that Sally and Nola contemplated su

I read this because I really enjoyed "Flowers for Algernon," but it doesn't even come close to being as cool as that book.

This story kept me on my toes and wanting to read more to find out what happens, and I suppose that counts for something, but I felt like it was a whole lot of suspense for nothing.

This was probably a lot more interesting when it was published and people didn't have the knowledge about mental illness that we have today.

Lagi-lagi Daniel Keyes mampu memikatku dengan gaya bahasanya yang mengalir dan tegas serta smart mengungkap misteri kasus kepribadian majemuk. walaupun ini fiksi, tapi keasyikannya membaca ga berkurang, sama ketika aku membaca The mind of Billy Milligan dan Sybil.... dan Sally, tokoh rekaan si penulis, sangat memukau, memiliki kecerdasan tingkat tinggi seperti pada umumnya penderita kepribadian ganda lainnya...
I read this book in Indonesian translation. I thought this book quite interesting, when the reader know that they're 5 people in Sally's body (include herself) and this book's storyline is how the others have to go from Sally's body.
But, do they really want to be remove? When the others personality say that it's gonna kill them all?
