Like many other books of this genre, Tony Reeves tone and attitude against those he writes about prickles in such a way that it makes it difficult to read for the facts and understanding they may provide. But unlike many other writers, Reeves does not do overkill on this attitude, and gets into the depths of the story and its many cross-currents so that other possibilities begin to seem worth the effort.
