Anyhow, I was in Goslar, looking around at the Kaiserplaftz (substantially restored during the Second Empire and decorated internally with a series of over life sized history paintings of the type where the horses' eyes follow you round the room), thinking about the world heritage site of Rammelsburg - the silver mine opened up during the middle ages which led the Salian Emperors to develop the town of Goslar and I had a twinge of curiosity about those rulers, practising what I think of as the W ...more
