I won this book free from Good Reads first reads.

The Chic Girls Guide to a one-of-a-kind wardrobe is a wonderful, informative guide to altering and adding flair to clothes.

There is a list of supplies you will need for the projects that are in the book. There are definitions for terms used, that newbies may or may not be familiar with. I think this a great guide to altering skirts, dresses, necklines, and sleeves. She shows the reader how to lengthen dresses, skirts and even shirts. Also, how

I won this book through good reads, yay! I love Kristina's blog so I was excited to receive a copy of her new book. The book is about how to alter your clothes so they can be both beautiful and modest. She gives tips on what clothes are good for refashioning. Then there are chapters on tailoring, raising or embellishing necklines, adding sleeves, lengthening hemlines for tops, skirts, dresses, and adding embellishments to clothing and accessories. There are lots of pictures for each of the ...more

I'm so glad that I won this book in a GoodReads give-away. This book gives very easy ideas to rework items that aren't exactly right for one reason or another. It also urges the reader to experiment and try things with the spirit of creativity in mind rather than whether you are doing something right or wrong. This book gave me ideas for a few projects using garments that I already have. One of my favorite projects is the cardigan embellished with paillettes. It is so easy, it's hard to ignore.

Any woman who wants to dress more modestly needs to take a look at this book. The options out there are pretty slim, but she gives ways of altering your wardrobe to make it more modest. It is also fun to watch how she embellishes with different products. I just wish it had more intricate detail and instructions.

If you are looking for a little inspiration for some original creations, check this book out. The ideas are unique, but easy to translate to your own wardrobe. Have fun!

Kristina Clemens was born to an avid seamstress and built her first garment for competition at age ten. Regrettably, she did not win. Not so regrettably, this garment perished along with the rest of her clothes from the 1980’s. Kristina is likely to refashion any piece she buys and approximately 37 garments have died for the sake of her experimentation. She and her sewing machine reside in central ...more
