Joel Osteen's gentle, humble manner and positive, encouraging stories will always help one who's feeling down and out. Everytime I read his books I get encouraged that, where as life is not always easy, God is always there. To look on the brighter side. And when there seems to not be a brighter side in view, to remember "this too will pass". His writing always conveys the love of God.

Well, I have mixed feelings about this one. First of all, let me say that I won this in a First Reads giveaway. I have read several of Olsteen's books in the past and they seem to have the pattern of being quite redundant. The message is excellent, and I love tuning in to his broadcast and listening to his sermons, but his books aren't quite as good. That being said, he does make the point that God doesn't want us to just accept a mediocre life. He has big plans for us, and we need to do our par...more

The author is a minister of the Gospel. He has a lot of stories that he tells to help us understand God in a better way. I have been able to share one of those stories with a friend who needed help which fit that situation in her life. Therefore, I see these stories as helpful and soul satisfying.

In some places he uses Biblical passages. However, I feel that in too many of the stories he used Biblical references but he did not tell where to find the particular passages. That was a big let down...more

I listen to pastor Osteen every week and I love all his messages. This book was no exception! I love how uplifting and positive he is about God's message! I'd definitely recommend this and any other book of his!

*Received an ARC for an honest review.*

So far, I'm enjoying this read, as it is an easy one, and I always enjoy Joel's programs. I have to agree with some of our other reviews as saying alot of this is redundant, but I think that's his "thing", trying to get some of us "hardheaded" negative thinkers to think more positively, and trust in God to help us out; build our faith to new heights. I hope to finish this book very soon, and I'm proud to say I won this book (Thank you, Goodreads!)and will have a full review in a day or two!

This is an amazing book! If you only read one of Joel Osteen's books, read this one! Joel gives scriptural reasons for why God wants us to succeed and to live the promises that He has placed in our hearts. Those dreams that we have in our hearts were placed there by Almighty God and will come to pass as we place our faith into action and trust in Him. In some ways, this book reminds me of the movie The Secret. The difference is that this is coming from a Christian perspective. Personally, both w...more

This is an excellent follow-up to "I Declare". "Breakout" is almost a companion book to "I Declare". By all accounts it is not but one could follow the progression. The only reason I didn't rate this a five star review is the fact that in the later chapters it becomes a bit repetitive to things mentioned in earlier books. However, if you're new to Osteen, this is most definitely a good place to start. I will refer to the opening 12-15 chapters many times. His style is easy to read and purposeful...more

Very positive book...It helps you visualize where you went to be and how to get there...

I loved this book and found it to be very uplifting. It has drawn me into a closer relationship with the Lord and encouraged me to always be aware of His presence. Joel reminds us that we should always be obedient to God, that we should never repay evil for evil and we should trust and believe in Him to do what His word says. Joel tells us that we won't be without trouble, but, in knowing that, as believers, we have the Holy Spirit guiding and directing our lives, we have nothing to fear. We are...more

I thank God for anointing Joel to write this book. It's definitely a life changing book, very inspiring. Before, I was just going about my life, praying to God to just help me get by. I thought I had no purpose, no passion, no talent. I was waiting for God to show me what my talent was though. It was hard for me to keep living in the spirit because I had no hope, no vision for my life. I was addicted to this computer. Still wasn't happy. I was stressed and depressed all the time. I didn't believ...more

I really liked Joel's new book. The only reason why I give this 4 stars instead of 5 is that it was many of his sermons rolled into a book. I really like his sermons, but I was hoping for some new material, too. There are some new things in the book, but a majority is sermons that I've already heard. But his message is so positive, that it's excellent reinforcement of things I need to hear! Listen to this book to get yourself pumped up to tackle life! You can do it!

I can't, I just can't do it! I tried, I tried to be positive and not judgmental, I flipped the jacket cover around so I could TRY and read the words without feeling like I was being stared at by the biggest phony creep, (why DOES he have to plaster every single one of his books with himself on the cover?!! It just seems so vain!! That's what an author bio and pic on the inside of the jacket cover are for!!!) but I just couldn't do it!!!! :0

So many times I have been down in the dumbs, as I got this book, it would lift me up. God has a great annointing on Joel to encourage believers. To many people attack Joel saying, "He's phony" "He's too positive," "He preaches a feel good message," and my favorite accusation, "He smiles too much." My friends I get it, you may disagree with his theology but pleese have a better explanation. If we are really going to knock the devil down we do not need to aim at people, we need to aim at their bel...more

I loved this book and thought it to be very motivating for me. You should always have a positive outlook in life and this just gives you more reason to believe that. Boy, I sure wish more people could believe in themselves to see things through in their lives. Don't give up at the first "no" that you hear. The next one could be the "yes" you were looking for. God has your back. If you are looking for inspiration, this is a great book to read.

"Dead bones represent dreams and goals that we don't think will come to pass. God had the power to bring these dead bones to life, but God needed a person who believed so He could work through him."
This is one of the many inspirational passages in Osteen's latest book. This book reads like one of his lively Sunday messages. I appreciate that Osteen doesn't fall into the total prosperity preaching package. He discusses at length when the balance between faith and reality. Christians are not immu...more

Note: not a how to on escaping prison. Pastor Joel's latest roundup of his short and simple homilies originally broadcast on his wildly successful television show and podcast from the massive Lakewood Church in Houston Texas. To say taken from Joel's remarks on his weekly broadcast is an understatement as they are replicated her verbatim including visually-based references more understandable on video. However, as with his other books, Osteen's motivational speeches are more effective than a cup...more

As soon as I opened the book and started reading "Believer bigger," it's like Joel Osteen speaking a live sermon in my home as if I hear his voice loud and clear as it rings in my ear. Shifting is a way to start a chapter and speak on things that people are either going through, struggling to get through, or seeking for a break-through. I am speaking some of the things aloud as well, we do need to BREAK OUT and GET FIT (faith, intimacy[with YHWH God], and trained)!

I loved this book! I don't mind reading it more than once during times when I needed an extra dose of hope and courage!

My main problem with this book is that Joel uses several... many stories & examples to get the reader to the point. Perhaps some readers need several examples. I do not. It frustrated me & I felt like I was wasting my time.

A very uplifting message. Even though I'm not Christian, it is a great message that you are enough, perfect, and able to excel in life given the right frame of mind one which everyone can obtain.
Rich
really good and not too religious oriented.

I like Joel Osteen's upbeat attitude and messages. Through stories from the Bible and people Osteen knows, he gives the reader 5 keys to live a better life. I do believe that too many people settle for less mostly through procrastination. Joel's message is that if you do your part, God will do the rest. If you feel life is slipping away from you, this might be a good book for you.

This book seemed somewhat repetitive, maybe because I have listened to 2 other audio books by Osteen.

God did not create you for mediocrity, but to be extraordinary. ~ Joel Osteen, Break Out!

Listened to audio program while driving to and from work. I was extremely encouraged and even had a comment from one of my co-workers asking why I was so positive. I knew it was because I was hanging around Joel Osteen. You can't but become more optimistic about life as you listen to this program.

Let the spirit of Joel Osteen rub off on you as you listen to this program!

I love watching Joel on tv, and I read and enjoyed his last book Every Day a Friday, so I definitely wanted to read this. I bought the audio book so I could listen on my long commute and it was awesome! Since he is reading it, it's like listening to his sermons. I keep it in the car so I can listen to it when I need a pick me up. If you can, you should get the audio version, but the print says the same thing without tbe smile and the accent!

Have you ever wondered, who can tell you the right way to go? I have.
In the story "Break Out"! Joel Osteen, and his wife Victoria wrote this amazing book about going beyond your barriers in your life, it has definitely helped me.
Can this book change your life, find out!

In this book it was sort of difficult, but it was also totally understanding. I had already lended it to a classmate and he thinks it's amazing also. This book does have plenty of series and I will continue reading it. I will also...more

Ok, first you have to get past poor Joel's smarmy smile that gives him that reputation as a slimy, coniving, preacher. Then you have to gloss over the repetition of the theme to pull out the true nuggets of positivity. I mean, positive thinking is good! It CAN spur you on and improve your life! If we could remember all the great things this author prescribes, I think we'd all be better off.

I have watched Joel's television broadcast for some time and his delivery of the Word follows a pattern: Revelation of God's word, admonishment, and a parable/story... The strange thing is that I love it. He is believable and joy filled when he speaks so the rest kind of comes with the package. He can be proud of the many he has helped learn and live by God's law...

I love Joel Osteen, and his message. Having said that, I will say that I've read a few of his books, and like all the other ones more than this one. Hard to explain…sounds like second verse, same as the first, or something. As I said, love Joel's books, I was just a little disappointed with this one. (Sorry, Joel)

Anytime you read a book by Joel Osteen you will put it down feeling encouraged and ready to face any difficulty you are dealing with. If, however, you are wanting an in-depth book about Biblical principles you might want to look elsewhere. I gave this book 5/5 stars. I liked the ease of reading this book, the author’s ideas and stories flow from one to the other. I did think that some of the material was familiar, like maybe I had read some of the stories or ideas in one of his other books. That...more
