A deal she can't refuse!

Allison Kincaid can make a great sales pitch. But showing up at Joe Gallahan's motel asking for a favor is her toughest challenge yet. A year ago they were more than just colleagues at a big PR firm. When work came between them, Joe put the blame on Allison…and his opinion hasn't changed.

She's shocked, however, when Joe

I was lucky enough to win this book as a Goodreads First Read. Let me just say, I basically inhaled it!
Joe and Allison were lovers and coworkers in the past. Each feels let down by the other, and each one has issues that require help to deal with. There is no typical romance hero or heroine here. This story has small town busybodies, a cute kitten, a freaking Burmese python, and lots of humor. It also has heartbreak, betrayal, evidence of crappy parenting, and good people afraid to trust for a
This book is connected to Altman’s debut novel, The Other Soldier. It shares not only a setting and some characters with the earlier book but also a rare combination of high-tension conflict and genuine humor rooted in situation and characters. Allie and Joe are both damaged people with real problems that are too serious to be resolved with an I-love-you and heated encounters in bed. The passion between the two has not been weakened by almost a year apart, but it soon becomes evident to the read ...more

ARC received from author for an honest review.

I really liked this book! It was well written, the characters were brilliant (especially the 3 old ladies, loved them!!!) the plot was entertaining and the story overall was really engaging.

It's clear from the outset that Allison and joe have had a messy break up, and although they both want to hate the other unfortunately the heart wants what the heart wants! In order to keep her job Allison has been forced to come and grovel to her ex boss and ex
I received this ARC from Kathy Altman in exchange for an honest review.

Goodness gracious. There is a lot to this book. So much more than I imagined when I first began.

When we meet Allison and Joe they are very angry with each other and clearly have suffered some sort of misunderstanding. As the book develops, however, we learn that they were facing so much more than a simple misunderstanding. They both have inner demons that are bent on tormenting and sabotaging them. They have so much to make

Allison Kincaid's boss has sent her on a mission to find Joe Gallahan and bring him back to the PR firm for a very important client. Millions of dollars and her job is on the line if she fails. Except her and Joe were more than just colleagues. Their out of office romance is what cost her a promotion last year. Joe agrees to help only if Allison stays for two weeks to help him restore his run-down motel. But wielding a hammer and working side by side again may just give them the second chance th ...more
I was sent this book by the author in exchange for an honest review. I liked this book. I rated it 3.5 for these reasons: A bit slow in the beginning, especially for steamy scenes and not enough of these and it took too long for their pasts to be resolved. Things I liked: both characters had pasts that they needed to overcome to truly trust and be open with each other. Joe is in denial about his alcoholism and Allison is in denial about being an enabler for her mothers gambling problem. When the ...more

Allison & Joe used to work for the same firm & were together before demons & 'certain' circumstances caused their relationship to fall apart. Now, Allison, has to convince Joe to go back & work with her to keep her job. Joe asked for 2 weeks of her time in exchange for a month of his.
The story line was good enough but I just couldn't connect with these two characters, at first. Maybe because they had a lot of issues? Maybe I wanted mor
Allison Kincaid let people down. She promised to care for her mother. She wasn't doing a very good job.All it did was land her further in debt. Until the day Allison was forced to find an old co-worker to help on a project. That was when her eyes opened. And she learned it was time to put herself first.

Joe Gallahan was the best advertising executive around. When he wasn't drinking. Thinking he was to be fired, he quick and moved to a quiet town to fulfill his dream. The love of his life refused

Allison and Joe have a past before and now, she is asked to go and convince him to rejoin the agency. Millions dollar deal and her job is at stake. Joe is renovating a building to be a motel and has no intention to going back to his high power career. From the onset, Joe clearly has feeling for her or else, he would not agree to her request. But his agreement comes with a condition; she have to stay at the motel for two weeks to help him out. Given that she has no choice, she agreed to the condi ...more
I loved it!! I first met the hero, Joe, in Ms. Altman's first book, The Other Soldier and I knew he had a story to tell and probably some demons to exorcise before he got his HEA. And I was right. Both Joe and the heroine, Allison, have authentic real life, real world problems to overcome in this emotional story.

I felt the author handled the gut wrenching emotion beautifully and added enough lighter moments to balance the story. Staying At Joe's also takes place in Castle Creek with it's fun as

I really liked this book. First you meet Allison who had a past relationship with Joe. She comes to try to convince him to take a job, and it goes on from there. I really liked Joe. Even tho he had a drinking problem, he was still one of those down to earth guys who everyone likes and and wants to be around. Plus it's just an added bonus that he is really hot :). Then there's Allison who is trying to get control of her life for once. Granted
I received a copy of the paperback for review from the author.

I did not read the previous book where Joe was introduced so read this book as a standalone.

Joe and Allison had a messy break up and both have challenges to overcome in order to get their HEA. I liked both characters and appreciated the way they were finally able to overcome those things that were keeping them apart. The author handles the emotional conflicts well between all the characters. The histories of each character have shaped

I was moved to tears by The Other Soldier, and I was anxious to read Kathy Altman's new book, but I wasn't prepared for how deeply this story would affect me. The two main characters: Joe Gallahan from The Other Soldier, and Allison, his former girlfriend from another life in corporate America, become real to the reader in a way only the best of the best writers can pull off. I suffered with them, laughed with them, cried with them, got angry with them, even lusted with them. There's an immediac ...more

The story line here is different than any I have read, I really enjoyed that! This book was full of characters and they all seemed to fit in with the Castle Creek area. I can imagine them all being there and fitting in perfectly. I loved all of the characters and thought Marcus was a good touch (read the book to find out who he is and why).

This book had excitement, romance, mystery, jokes, tears and love. The cover is catchy the title is fun.

Overall this was a great book. It got a tad bit bori

Alison's PR career was wrecked by, she thought, her boyfriend and colleague. After his brother's death, he left the company, bought the motel his brother always wanted to renovate and run, and begins to bring it back to life--until Alison shows up, forced by her nasty boss to bring back the wonderkind, Joe Gallahan.

But each has demons that continue to interfere--his drinking problem and her gambling mother and the thugs who are demanding repayment of her most recent bills.

How can they sweep away

I received a free copy in exchange for my honest review, so here it is. This is a great story, Allison has to try to convince Joe to return to his old job to save an old client and for Allison to save her own job. Not to mention that Joe is her ex-boyfriend too. Sparks fly between these two from the beginning and they try to convince each other that they are bad together, always hurting the other. They will go through lots of emotions and pain and finally realize that love is what matters most.R ...more

Loved revisting Castle Creek and getting to know Joe. Not nearly as compelling as The Other Soldier, but still a very enjoyable read. I liked Joe very much, but found heroine to be a bit shallow. I also felt the conflict of the young man who had come back for revenge was too easily and quickly "fixed." Castle Creek was as fun to visit as before and the inhabitants were interesting, different and not cliched, adding depth to the story.
Great summer read!
A cute romance story, great for a day at beach read!! I really liked both main characters. I thought the way they were brought together because of a previous job they worked at once was a little corny but the story was well told and the romance believable it was easy to overlook that and keep reading. A man that knows how to work power tools is always a plus!
This is the first book that I have read by Kathy Altman, but it will not be the last. This was a really great book, there were twists and turns, it was funny too. Kathy even offers the recipe of a chocolate cake with some questionable ingredients, but I now WANT to try it :D If you are looking for a fun read this is it! I am going to recommend this book to my friends.
This is a great quick read. The story of Allison and Joe is one of love and forgiveness. I loved watching Joe transform and admit his faults and deal with. I also enjoyed reading about a small town with its quirky citizens :-) This is a feel good book that is too heavy. It is sweet story that does not make you think to much :-)
I received a ARC of this book and I was lucky. The book was great and I loved Allison. I just wish Joe had been simpler to deal with and made her life simpler. I just loved the romance and emotions. The book really touched my heart and I wish I was in Allisons place on that lovely countryside of Castle Creek.

This book is about two troubled souls with some very tough issues to deal with but if they can they could end up having everything....together. This book made me laugh, made me cry, made me angry and most of all...made me happy. Everything a great book should!!! I definitely recommend this one.
What a delightful book, i found the quick wit and quirky lines excellent. What an entertaining read, Alison and Joe definitely belonged together.....a highly recommended read.
Happily ever after indeed. Ms Altman has brought a story that hits all the right spots. A must read for August or any other day you find yourself lounging around
