Because we're going to Alaska soon and will stop at the town of Ketchikan, I ordered this little book of oral histories put together by the Ketchikan Public Libraries. What a wonderful look back at how this town developed and survived over the years. People came from Japan, the Philippines, Norway, Russia, and the lower 48 to live among the Native Americans in this rainy southeastern part of Alaska. A wonderful way to "see" old Ketchikan. Nearly all of those interviewed for this project have left this earth. It was fun working on the project.
