The story is about two baby birds, a gull named Gregory and a penguin named Hudson, who grow up being the best of friends. When it’s time for Gregory to fly, Hudson sadly realizes he cannot. From day one, Gregory the gull and Hudson the penguin were the best of friends, and they did everything together. It wasn't until Gregory learned how to fly and Hudson quickly learned that he couldn't that the two felt very different. Once Gregory gets in trouble and Hudson is there to help, the friends soon realize they are the perfect match!

This is a really sweet book about two birds who have been best friends since birth--Pigeon and Penguin. Penguin is sad because he can't fly like Pigeon. Pigeon's other friends tease Penguin tirelessly because he can't fly. Penguin then becomes determined to fly. He tries all sorts of contraptions to help him fly but to no avail. Then one day Pigeon is diving into the water when he gets stuck in a fisherman's net. Penguin swims down to rescue Pigeon to save the day. All of the pigeons reward him ...more

I'm putting this on the school-skills shelf for its subtle theme about bullying. It's really the story of "two friends that become TRUE friends" as the subtitle states. The illustrations are spot on for the text. The expressions on the birds faces are especially endearing.

The pictures of the penguin's various attempts to get himself airborne really make this one for me.

A very sweet story about the friendship between a gull and a penguin.

Each must learn that even though they are quite different, they still, can be there for one another!

What a cute book. Lovely pictures and the characters are endearing. Not sure what side the penguins gull friend took when the penguin was being bullied.
