Bittersweet Blood was a deliciously addictive paranormal romance/mystery complete with vampires, fae, and shapeshifters. A combination that ticked all the right boxes for me!

Tara’s childhood upbringing was far from normal. She was raised by her reclusive aunt and taught to live by strict rules. All this goes out the window when her aunt dies and Tara discovers everything was a lie. Aunt Kathy was no relation; she didn’t even exist according to records. Tara wants/needs to find out who she is and
Bittersweet Blood is a paranormal romance and as such it is big on romance, somewhat less rich on plot.

It's absolutely nice to read and has a good world-building. Nothing is really new but this helps the author who doesn't have to create a world from scratch and the readers who don't fight with understanding and info-dump. On the other side it may sound somewhat familiar. It's like a puzzle, you might not know exactly the final image, but you know how to "play". So we have the usual type of char
Nina Croft has created a fun and fast-paced novel with Bittersweet Blood! Yes, we have vampires, we have fairy assassins, we have demons, and we have Tara Collins, who spent most of her life with her loving aunt, living in seclusion. Now Tara is on her own and wants to find out what its like to be a 'normal human'- except, guess what, she isn't and never will be 'normal' or 'human!'

After living with all of her aunt's 'rules' and having no other family, Tara hires a private investigator to find o

Mon avis en Français

I didn’t know anything about Nina Croft before discovering this first novel. I did not know what to expect but it was ultimately a good discovery. It is a light and fast read.

We discover a girl, Tara, lost in a world she does not know anything about. She lived her entire life in a bubble away from the people of the society, raised by her aunt who never left their home. What a strange life would you say? Yet she was always happy and loved by her family. But th
It felt like all the usual cliches with nothing new to hold my interest. Demon/fae war, vampires, shapeshifters, werewolves, and mix. Add a mystery involving the main character's parents and voila, a book.

It wasn't bad, it just wasn't good. I had to force myself to finish it and didn't really care what happened to anyone.

I liked BITTERSWEET BLOOD way more than I was anticipating. It featured a sexy vampire and a woman with a secret so hidden even she doesn’t know it, with enough action and mystery to keep me hooked the entire time. There were so many things to like- strong leads, great sexual tension, and even laugh out loud funny parts amongst it all.

BITTERSWEET BLOOD takes place in a London where all kinds of supernatural creatures, including vampires, werewolves, dem

Tara has led a very sheltered life, unknown to her there was a very good reason for that and a good part of the book’s plot is figuring out the “why” that goes with that story.
Christian is the ex-Order hunter that crosses paths with Tara and he ends up with the job of keeping her alive when Fae and demons are both hunting her and seem to wish her very dead.

The story is very good, the vampire rich guy and the girl with hidden secrets is a well worn plot device but that does not mean it is not ent

I loved this book from the first page. I was immediately drawn to the two main characters and felt a particular empathy for Tara who starts off like a little lost lamb. I also liked the film noir setting of a young innocent going in to a strange

Since the overview does a great job of outlining the story line, I'll focus on my thoughts about the book. Our heroine just wants normality after having grown up in an isolated part of England with almost no interaction with other people. She is now in her twenties her guardian is dead and she wants to know more about herself - where she came from so she hires a PI - Christian Roth who just happens to be a paranormal PI (She doesn't know this when she picks him). Many aspects of the world in this book reminded me of various movies and images from those movies popped up in my head while I was reading. If you're a fan of such movies like the Underworld trilogy or the two Hellboy movies, then this book may have some appeal to you. It takes some aspects from those movies such as gun-wielding supernatural beings and said being are involved in a organization that seeks to keep the peace between several groups of supernatural creatures.

This was a cute love story. The author has tried to incorporate everything supernatural in this world - demons, vampires, fae, werewolves, shapeshifters, etc. It kinda make sense - you can't have vampires without werewolves and you can't have demons without the fae. But the introduction of all the species seemed kind of rushed although based on the length of the story and the plot Ms. Croft was heading there weren't too many pages to paint a descriptive picture of the supernatural setting the ch ...more

Tara was raised in seclusion by her Aunt Kathy, who had a set of rules for her. When Aunt Kathy dies, Tara leaves home in search of her past. Her cat leads her to the CEO of an investigation company, Christian Roth. Christian, it turns out, is a vampire and ex-demon hunter. Tara and Christian have more in common than they know. And it's deadly to both of them.

Nina Croft is always good for an enjoyable, 4 read for me. Her books are usually a light, quick read. While Tara has some good, light line

I am a big fan of Nina Croft! I loved Bittersweet Blood, it was definitely what I’ve come to expect from this author. Tara, has grown up completely sheltered from the world. When her aunt dies, she embarks on a mission to experience the world and find out who she is. Christian Roth is a private investigator. Oh, and did I mention a sexy as hell, badass, vampire? Tara approaches him to find out where she is from and in the process, he discovers she is more part of his world than the one she's try ...more

I came across this title on NetGalley and was intrigued by the blurb so I immediately submitted a request for a copy of this book. I was fortunate enough to have my request granted in return for an honest review. While reading this book I was constantly being reminded of another widely read and watched vampire series. Some may consider this to be a bad thing but personally for me it did not de

Tara just wants to be normal. She has spent her entire life sheltered by her aunt. After her aunt's recent death Tara decided it was time to start living her life. She has moved out of the home she as been in since her birth and started college in London. The first rule she has been required to live by is not to question who she is.

The cover of BITTERSWEET BLOOD didn't really draw me in but I ended up enjoying it despite that. Tara really has no clue who she is and when she seeks out answers Christian Roth ends up turning her world upside down.

Tara has spent her whole life following weird rules her aunt drilled into her head. Now that her aunt is gone Tara wants nothing more than to be normal and finds herself breaking the rules one by one. Unfortunately she is anything but normal and slowly finds out why. Tara starts off

Entertaining. This is the first word that comes to my mind. I was plunged into an "urban fantasy" with suspense, secrets, tons of supernatural entities. I took pleasure in turning pages. Amusing.

Throughout the novel, the reader wants to know who is really Tara Collins. Demons, fae, vampires and werewolves know she is not fully human. But nobody expects,at the end, the revelations be revealed with an explosion of twists.
There is blood, sex, battles and death. A mixture that gives rhythm to the st
Werewolves, and witches and fairies, oh my! Most novels take on one or two of the paranormal, but this series seems to be taking them all on, and I love that. Why not? So many possibilities. I was genuinely shocked at every revelation and jaw-dropper. I love a book that can shock me. I hate predictability. This one had so many great twists that I didn't see coming.

I loved Tara's character. She was sweet, but tough and knew how to stand her ground. I felt like I really got to know her and she was

REVIEW: BITTERSWEET BLOOD is the first storyline in Nina Croft’s new contemporary, paranormal romance series The Order. The Order is the regulating vampire body that polices the supernaturals of the world. Once the presiding head of The Order, five hundred year old vampire Christian Roth is begrudgingly pulled back into duty when demons begin to wreak havoc in the area surrounding his business and his home. But it is not until a young waif-like human requires Christian’s assistance do the demon ...more

I blazed through this book! I couldn’t put it down…. I love when a story sucks me in and and time speeds by. :D I adored the world building in Bittersweet Blood by Nina Croft. It’s filled with some of my favorite fiction beasties. Vampires, fey, demons, shifters, and witches oh my. And the two realms they come from besides earth, the Faelands and the Abyss, were intriguing. I want more! I was nearly clapping my hands in glee. So much fun!

How cute this book! While I was reading it I think of me as one of Whitesnow's seven dwarfs: Happy. The only desire of Tara Collins is to be a normal girl and live a normal life, something a little difficult to do if everyone else, or the most, will want your dead.

Almost Very Entertaining

Out of everything in the world she could possible have, all Tara Collins wants is one thing: a normal life. A normal life that doesn't include twenty-two years of living a lonely, secluded existence with a sheltering, secretive aunt. A normal life to be found beyond the borders of a small town in the middle of Nowhere, England, one that includes friends, a formal education at an actual university, and breaking every single rule her aunt had drilled into her

I received this book free via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I don't gush and give false praise – I don't believe that helps readers or authors so what you read is what I truly feel about a book.

Vampires and Romance, love those books so I was eager to crack on with this one. Since Twilight however, it seems every other book has vampires of some description and some are really trite stories so I'm quite picky about which ones I pick. The sample on this w
As soon as I was done reading this book I was commenting with my long-lost book signing buddy, Nan, that I haven't been reading any true, straight-up paranormal romances lately and I really missed them. I'm behind on all my Black Dagger Brotherhood, Lords of the Underworld, and Dark Hunter series. But Bittersweet Blood was exactly what the doctored ordered to cure me of the "young adult" stupor I had been wallowing in at the time. It wasn't the shock to my system that a BDB book would have been. ...more

The first Novel of the Order is an intriguing and fascinating paranormal read.

Tara has been raised to fear everything and just wants to be normal but when she learns that everything she’s been told was lies, she hires a private investigator to discover the truth. Christian is not only a PI, he’s a vampire and ex-demon hunter and is currently helping the Order out with a demon problem.
