In the acknowledgements, Di Julio writes, "This isn't a happy story. It's dark and emotional and strange. Definitely not for everyone." Yet, though urban fantasy is not a genre I normally choose, and though I like happy stories, I enjoyed "Inkchanger" very much. This book was really surprisingly good. I found it lying in a coffee shop in Hamilton (which is probably the only way I could ever have found it), and decided to borrow it (yep, I actually did return it - such a good person, aren't I?).
Anyway, this book isn't exactly the same level as my other 5-star books, but really, it deserves it. I mean... how come only 20 people have read this???!!!!

The moment I picked up this book I couldn't put it down. The prose sucks you right in and you absolutely need to know what happens next. Ellie Di Julio does a fantastic job of painting a vivid and lifelike portrayal of her characters as well as describing the scenery. If you haven't read this then you are missing out!

Ellie Di Julio is a nomadic writer currently living in Hamilton, Ontario with her Robert Downey, Jr. lookalike husband, their tiny human, and two weird cats. Between nerd activities like playing Dungeons & Dragons or watching Top Gear, she enthusiastically destroys the kitchen and tries to figure out what it's all about, really. She also writes urban fantasy novels riddled with inside jokes ...more
