J.B. has been bothered by colorful balls of light floating around him as far back as he can recall. Doctors blame it on strained rods and cones in his eyes, but he's never believed that diagnosis. Now he's the new kid in town, starting middle school with no friends and grandparents who aren't exactly excited he's moved in with them. When he spots a girl in class who appear ...more

Kitty Muse Book Reviews

Some kids do great at math. Some show terrific athletic prowess. Others, while perhaps not so popular, still muddle through their school years the best they can with the few friends that they have.

Julius has none of these aspects working in his favor. Uprooted from his home and non-existent circle of friends, he is forced to live with his grandparents until his parents can sell the old house and join him.

J.B., as he prefers to be called, is a loner’s loner. Ignored by everyone at his new school

Disclaimer: I received an e-copy in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book. It's short, cute, and to the point. J.B., William, and Rhea make a great trio, and the story itself was a good one, especially after the kids team up to determine what exactly the lights are. I hope there's more to come, because I'd really like to read more about their parapsychological adventures. =)

Wow! I really enjoyed this book. Children's/YA fantasy is so saturated with the usual tired themes like vampires and werewolves. This book stands out with originality. The characters are strong, the comedy is sharp, and the suspense is on target. This is a character driven book with kids you feel like you know. I only wish it had been longer.

I'm looking forward to reading the next installments when they are released!

J.B. knows the coloured balls of lights he sees aren’t the result of strained rods and cones as the doctors claim, but he doesn’t know what causes them either. What he does know is that no one else sees them. When he notices a girl talking to one, he decides he has to get to know her.

J.B. has had a hard time being the new kid in town. He’s living with his grandparents who aren’t exactly excited to have him staying with them and he seems to practically invisible at his new school. He does finally

*I received this book in a first reads giveaway*

The first thing you need to know about this book is that it's short. About 70 pages, which makes it a perfect book for any reluctant reader, but can leave those of us who enjoy longer reads feeling quite dissatisfied.

The story was fun and engaging, I read the book in one sitting (Of course) but it had a few grammar mistakes... If I were a parent I would try to keep my children away from books that (Though unintentionally) promote poor grammar. Ther
