Begat by George Romero on Stephanie Plum, Fifty Shades of Brains skewers both the zombie apocalypse genre and the book of a similar name. You are prepared for the ickiness of zombie killing and the even ickierness of romance novel sex (with its throbbing euphemisms and simultaneous orgasms), but then you get caught by the little flourishes. I haven't read the hugely (and strangely) popular book-of-a-similar-name, and now I don't need to.
Aurora, our heroine, has fallen for the Master Zombie Kill

Gross, funny, and, god help me, a little bit sexy. Just what my inner surrealist was looking for. I haven't read that other fifty shades book, but now I feel like I don't have to.

At one point I thought the 50 shades books were kind of cool, I mean, they were an amazing example of success with self-publishing, breaking boundaries in sexual content in popular novels, and introducing people to new aspects of sexuality. Right?

Then I actually read the books. Actually, I started hearing some things that made me be not so sure about the series pretty early on and then read the books. Either way, I believe that if I'm to tear apart a book that I should at least have read it firs

In a post-zombie apocalypse world, Ro finds herself sitting in front of the enigmatic, zombie-killing master Caligula. Sparks fly as Ro finds herself instantly attracted to the most powerful man in Seattle but they die away as Caligula doesn’t have the slightest interest in anything other than killing the undead. However, he does want something else from Ro…he wants her to be his zombie-catching bait.

This Fifty Shades of Grey spoof ranks in the top five worst books I’ve ever read. I wanted to l

Well this book was supposed to be a spoof to a book I never read. If you like Zombies, you'll love this book, If you like sex(LOTS OF IT)you will like this book, If you need something totally new you need this book. I am sure as the authors stated in the beginning their families would be shocked. I am sure his better half is asking WHAT THE ??? too. I would never want to know what is in the minds of the authors here it would probably scare me and I dont scare easily. There are Zombies and ...more

I first must confess that I have not yet read Fifty Shades of Grey, so there are probably some jabs at that title that may have gone over my head. However, I think I know enough about it to appreciate the gist of it. I laughed the whole way through at the ludicrousness of it all. I was a tad surprised by how graphic the book was (both in terms of the violence and the sex), but I think that's part of the point. Have we really gotten to a point that this is what we find entertaining? Have we ...more

I started to read "Fifty Shades of Grey" but I just couldn't get into it (wink;wink). But "Brains" is by someone who's humor I enjoy, so I though I'd try it. And am I glad I did! I read the first few chapters with the idea firmly in mind that I was reading a spoof. By half-way through, however, I was interested in the story itself, and appreciated the numerous references to the lady- and man-parts scattered throughout. I know there were many references to "Grey" which flew by me, but I enjoyed ...more

This is a take off of Fifty Shades of Gray of course. Takes place in Seattle. Fighting zombies is the name of the game.

This was ridiculous. If it's anything, at least in spirit, like the Fifty Shades of Grey series, I'm glad to have never read them.

Funny at times, frustrating at others, it's a good schlocky book.

I found this to be a slightly disturbing, awesomely gross and funny take on the 50 Shades of Gray series. Having read this, I don't need to read the original.
