I liked this story though it started dragging after the second attempt on her life. I mean seriously how much drama can one woman cause. And she wasn't very nice to him either. But of course Ty had his tongue on the ground wiping drool off his lip. I guess looks are everything and she still acted rude and pretentious around him. Ty finally breaks down her defenses and sweeps her off her feet, well yes he did, he was fine and knew how to use his hands, in military,(what were you thinking?)and the ...more

I am actually not a big fan of Romantic Suspense. In fact I usually avoid these kinds of books. Since being introduced to Ms. Martin’s Raines of Wind Canyon series I have changed my mind. She has such a wonderful way of writing that her books just capture my attention and have the perfect amount of yummy romance and interesting suspense.

The characters in Against the Mark really left an impression on me. We have Haley Warren who had a fallen out with her Dad when he divorced her mother and marri

What a great movie this would make. I've never read anything by this author before, but I think I'll be tracking down more of her work.

James Warren was killed in an unfortunate boat explosion, but was it an accident or murder? His daughter, Haley, has to find out. What evolves is a tale of danger and intrigue leading from the theft of several priceless works of art to a talented forger and the men behind the heist. It's anyone's guess who is on which side of the law as the stakes grow ever highe
Dark and extremely sexy. I never thought Ty Brodie's story would be like this. In previous books, he was portrayed as a good ole Texas boy, smart, but laid back. Real different characterization in this book. Kat Martin has really stepped it up a notch for this new series and I really like it. In Against the Mark think The Thomas Crown Affair, only Thomas Crown is an art thief and a murderer.

Haley Warren's insurance investigator father is killed in what looks like an accidental boat explosion. H
This is another great addition to the Raines of Wind Canyon series and I have enjoyed these stories from the beginning. This book has the right amount of suspense, romance and heat to satisfy any romantic suspense lover.

Ellie Stiles is good friends with Ty Brodie and several others that are associated with the private investigative firm that Johnny Riggs started and she has a niece, Haley that needs some help. Haley’s father’s wife called and said that she does not believe his recent death was a

If you are already a fan of Kat Martin’s romantic suspense novels, then you will not be disappointed with Against the Mark, the latest upcoming release in The Raines of Canyon series. Even though I have only read one other book in the series, I had no problem jumping into this book and getting immersed in the featured romance and murder investigation into an art theft ring.

Martin has written a well-developed suspense plot that complements an equally well-developed romance between Ty Brodie, an e

I found this book by looking up the genre suspense. I guess this is more of a romantic suspense but I still couldn't get into it. I found it kind of creepy the way the man, Ty, kept leering at and thinking lascivious thoughts about the main character, Haley. Nothing romantic in that. Also, everything was just a little too perfect. Haley was a cute perky blonde, with dimples no less, from a well to do family. Ty grew up middle class but now was very wealthy. They each just happened to know the pe ...more
Against the Mark is by Kat Martin. It is book nine of The Raines of Wind Canyon series. This romantic suspense began rather slowly for one of Kat’s books. I had to just keep reading because I knew it had to get better and it definitely did. It turned out to be as good as any of her books have been. Once drawn in, the characters took over and the plot became more suspenseful. It turned out to be a great book and one I will definitely revisit.

OK, I've finally gotten enough of Kat Martin at least for awhile. She did set up at least one more romance in the series (between Ty's cousin Dylan and Haley's best friend Lane. If that book materializes, I'll get it but now I'm done.

I enjoyed these characters. Like the others I've read in the series (The Raines of Wind Canyon) it can be read as a stand alone story. I have now read #4 to #9. #1, 2, and 3 are about the Raines brothers and from what I can tell are truly a trilogy. When I'm back i
I loved this book. I couldn't put it down. Then again I love all the books in this series. But this one and Against The Sun have to be my two favorites.
Nice continuation of the Raines of Wind Canyon series (which it states on the cover it's a part of). Not sure why it states The Brodies #2 here though.

Lots of alpha men, strong women, moneyed people, crimes, adventure, action and gunfire along with lots and lots of loving. Ty and Hayley have lots of chemistry and heat and fit well together. Nice to be reunited with other characters we've met before. Happily ever after was nice touch but then they ultimately always get their woman by stories end.

Even though I just picked this series up with the last book I'm totally loving it. Its full of romance and adventure and of course very desirable men that make your blood run hot. In this book we have Ty, who I only met through the last book (and much too briefly) but I gather he has been in a couple previous books and his client/romantic interest Haley. With his laid-back country boy and ex-military background, Ty was pretty popular with the ladies (and me) even though he hadn't met that one la ...more

I don't read a lot of romantic suspense so I wasn't sure how how I would feel about this book. But once I started reading, I couldn't put it down!

When Haley is contacted by her father's second wife - the one he left her and her mother for - she isn't at all sure what to believe. Could her father's death really have been a murder? And attracted as she is to Ty, she doesn't believe in abiding love and happily-after-afters. She just wants to learn the facts, tie up all the loose ends, and get back
This is so bad. I read a little, look at Martin's name and tell her, "This is so bad."

What happened? I have liked Martin's books up to now. I can't remember having to plow through one of her books to get to the end.

The hero just doesn't work for me. He is sooo stereotypical. Big lunk. He feels fake. I can't find anything that distinguishes him. Even when Haley describes him, she uses blah descriptions.

The heroine is lame. I find myself rolling my eyes and putting down the book. She does the u

My Review: Against the Mark

This is a nail bitter. Every time you think they are safe something else comes up that puts them back in danger. Lots of drama, action, suspenseful, good characters, humor and too many details of love scenes.

As always, Kat Martins series~Raines of Wind Canyon) was great!

Ellie, who we met in a previous book, helps Haley her niece hire Ty to find out if her fathers death was really an accident or if he was murdered. Haley hadn't seen or talked to her dad in years after he divorced her mother & moved to Los Angelas from Chicago. This is the second book that I have read of The Raines of Wind Canyon series... I came in at book 8... Against the Edge. I loved that one so couldn't wait to get my hands on book 9 when the ARC came available. There are a couple of things that always get my stamp of approval. First of all, I love it when authors create a series in which it is possible to read any of the books in the series as stand alones. Even though I started at book 8... I find that these books are very easily read and enjoye ...more

Does love always follow your carefully laid out plan?

Tyler Brodie is a great PI and that is exactly what Haley Warren is in need of now. She may have been estranged from her father but since his supposedly accidental death when his boat blew up, the guilt of seeking closure has become too strong to ignore.

Haley and Ty do some groundwork and discover there are too my coincidences and shoddy police work for something nefarious to not have caused Haley’s father’s death. Haley's stepmother is servin

Haley Warren hadn't spoken to her dad in years, when she received a phone all from her step-mother that he had been killed in what was ruled to have been an accident. But her step-mother isn't buying it, and neither is Haley. So when she arrives in Los Angeles to look into his death, she eagerly accepts the help her great-aunt Ellie offers her. That help comes in the form of a tall, built and very good looking private investigator.

I was lucky enough to win a copy of this book from Safari Heat Blog Tours and Author Services. This is the ninth installment of the Raines of Wind Canyon and even though I haven’t read any of the other books, YET, I was very excited to get this book. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and it didn’t even matter that I hadn’t read the other books in the series (a trait I love in series books).

"You dirty, no-good, low-down son of a bitch." If that doesn't grab your attention and have you taking a second look, nothing will. Kat Martin uses just that line for the opener of AGAINST THE MARK.

I absolutely loved the first chapter. It got the blood pumping; and as in true Kat Martin style, the book is full of romance, intrigue, and just who did do it! After reading the other books in the series, I enjoy having the characters intertwined in each story, even though each is a stand alone book.

Good but not as good as the others that I've read in the series...

I've read about half the books in this series and thoroughly enjoyed them. This one didn't do a whole lot for me. I wasn't a fan of the storyline in this book and I thought the action scenes were too short. They didn't do anything to get me excited. I wanted more.

Although I didn't dislike the main characters in this book, they just never really grew on me. The romance and chemistry was there but it was just typical of the romance

I have been a fan of Kat Martin since The Raines of Wind Canyon's first book, Against the Wind, which I read in April of 2011. I was a relatively new reader to the Romantic Suspense genre, and since having started these Kat Martin books, I have forged full speed ahead into each and every story that Kat has written. Kat is a genius when it comes to that mystery with romance thrown into the mix That Alpha male with his protective instincts an intoxicating quality that Kat writes so well. No two st ...more
After meeting Tyler Brodie in the last book I was excited to begin Against the Mark by Kat Martin, the ninth book in the Raines of Wind Canyon series. Martin delivered with so many of the elements I love. There were swoon-worthy characters and enough heat and suspense to a have me flipping the pages. Three word review: hot, suspenseful and sweet.

Against the mark is volume #9 of the Against series written by Kat Martin. French readers only know her historical romances, including me. Kat signed and sent one of the volumes to me, but I haven’t had time to read it yet. Shame on me! But now that I have finished the book, I can’t wait to bury myself in another volume of the series. I found the story very great, lively and flowing.
