I don't quite remember how I got started with this series. I think it might have been a free ebook, because I would not have picked it up otherwise. But it was a clever, funny set of books that came to the end right before running out of steam. Our hero, Mack MacAvoy, a 12-year-old at Richard Gere Middle School (Go, Fighting Pupfish!) in Sedona, Arizona, discovers he has the enlightened puissance and is charged with bring together 11 other 12-year-olds like him from around the world. Their missi ...more

I basically finished this book in a day. It was great. The plot was fast paced and there weren't any stopping points! As with the rest of the series, the humor really shone through and I found myself laughing out loud for a large portion of it. Especially the footnotes. They were probably the highlight of the entire series (Go Fighting Pupfish!).
I love the characters. In particular, Mack and Golum whose imperfections make both of them insanely lovable.
It was amazing how Michael Grant somehow ma

It took the library so long to get this to me that by the time I got it I was thinking to myself do I even care anymore. And then I started reading it and remembered how funny and delightful these books are. So there I was enjoying myself greatly until I got to what is possibly the single most anticlimactic ending I've ever read. What was that? I won't go into it further here just in case someone hasn't read it yet, but seriously? Michael you're so much better than that, and this series deserved ...more

Funny and full of action, just like the other books in this series. I enjoyed this book for the most part, it was a fun and easy read. The only thing that I didn't like is how rushed the end seemed, the end fight with the pale queen and then with risky didn't seem to take up all that much time. Though, this might also be a little because I read the whole book in one sitting and it just seemed more rushed than it was because I wanted to finish it. I also wish the last few of the 12 had gotten ...more

This book is the finale in the series, and you need to read the books in order. Type the author's name in the search box above to see the others. This plot brings an end to the feud, the Pale Queen, and her daughter, Risky. The twelfth member of the Magnificents will surprise readers; it's someone who rose from the dead. The series had a happy ending for all, except the Pale Queen. Unless you think Mack adding a new phobia is an unhappy thing. Even the lives of Golem and Risky change for the ...more

This one was funny again (like the first one in the series). I'm a sucker for well-used parenthetical interjection and snarky footnotes (I blame Thursday Next for this).

Okay, trying this again. Goodreads lost the bio I just spent 30 minutes writing. So now it's just going to be incoherent rambling. Yes, the earlier draft was also incoherent rambling, but way better.

I'm the co-author or author of about 160 books, including the ANIMORPHS series, the GONE series, the BZRK series, the MAGNIFICENT 12 series (Mommy, make him stop saying series!), the MESSENGER OF FEAR
