Well-written book illustrating the perils of institutional investing in Canada. I appreciated the many examples of people who got cheated by advisors and the clear direction on what to look out for.

Unfortunately, being published in 2007, the book is a little dated by now, but otherwise a good read. In addition, one of the main problems I see with a book like this is that it frightens all investors and they just put their money in GICs or under their mattress. Sorry but nothing really groundbreaking in this book. it confirms what we've all known all along. financial planners will select high MER funds because it benefits them more. When was the last time you had someone recommend low MER (no DSC) index fund?
