A fantastic debut fiction novel from the author of Little One’s Bedtime. This is a story about friendship, grief, identity, and learning to live with a loss that’s unimaginable.

Two years ago ten-year-old Emma’s twin sister, Laura, died at their birthday party, and since then Emma’s life has not been the same. Without her louder and stronger sister, Emma starts

This is one of those magical books that make you laugh and cry simultaneously. From the first line, I knew I should feel sad, but then the main character says something that makes you laugh and you find yourself furtively looking around to make sure no one saw you laughing at a tragic situation. The story is told in first person from Emma’s point of view, so you come to terms with the situation and the death of her sister at the same time as she d

Lexiland is written in the point of view of a ten year old girl named Emma, who later changes her name to Eddie. Sure the fact that she is ten gives the book a bit of immaturity and innocence but I don't think the story line would have been as good if she was older.
A year before hand, Emma's twin sister died on their birthday. Though her sister -Laura- is never actually alive in the story you find yourself becoming attached to her as Emma tells you memories from the past.

This had me with so much of feeling. Emma lost her twin sister Laura on their birthday. The whole story was beautifully written on Emma's POV. A 10 year old girl. A bittersweet story of grief.

I had mix feeling. I don't know what I would do if I ever lost my sister.

Do

Tiger Moth is narrated by Alice and Zack, both have distinct voices. We first meet Alice who tells us about how her parents picked her shortly after she was born and about Culver Manor (I loved the description of the house, could picture it perfectly).

I liked Alice and thought that Suzi Moore succeeded in making the reader feel very sympathetic towards her. It took me a little longer to warm to Zack, I think a lot of that has to do with his relationship with his mother.

Het verhaal e ...more

Thank you to Bloomsbury Australia for this review copy!

Oh my gosh, this is such a gorgeous story and has such fantastically beautiful illustrations. Surely one of my favourite picture books of 2013, it was just incredibly beautiful. On re-reading I loved the story more than the first time, but the illustrations are what stand out to me. They are soft and delicate and convey the story in such a wonderful way. I’ll keep using words like incredible and beautiful and gorgeous, so I’ll just say: it i

Lexiland is an outstanding book. I read a lot of children/YA fiction but this was one that I could really get into as well. It wasn't ridiculous and the writing was so real and truthful. Lexiland is one of those books that I found myself reading in one go, I loved it, put it down and then thought about for two nights. I loved the characters and character development. Lexiland is a must read book of 2013. I love finding wonderful realistic fiction for young people.

I wish they wouldn't put young fiction in the adult section at the library , it gives me the wrong expectations for a book.
Took a while to figure how old the characters were in this, and to be honest, they all seemed to act a lot younger than they were....for the purpose of big reveals I guess.
It was an ok read, but won't be paying it on to younger kids I know.

I liked how everything wasn't all gloomy and in the end things got better. I think it was realistic and the way everyone acted seemed true. I like the characters. This kind of story was right up my alley.

I love this book. I know it by heart. I just have to say "it was late at night, and time for bed" and my little one gets all excited and starts offering up his monstery toes to be tickled. A fabulous book which has created some very precious memories.
