I loved this book! I was not sure if I would like it because although I love the author and all of her works I have read so far, I don't really have a huge problem with body image. This is not to say I think I have no flaws, I have many actually, I just accept that I am the way I am and I try to not care too much what others say. However I was very pleasantly surprised by this book!! It wasn't a book on how the media makes us feel fat or any modern day books on body image. Nope, this book had ...more

This book is full of amazing stories of what women has been told or thought about there body. Each tells about how we are all unique and loved by God.

This book really touched my heart. When I read about people pleasing it opened my eyes. Up until today I have been going out of my way to please certain people. Sometimes, even to the extent of pleasing people before God. This book showed me that I am pleasing to God just the way I am. He created me for a specific reason quirks and all.

Boy did this hit home with me. Growing up I was teased from having to wear wool socks over my shoes because mother couldn't afford boots to how fat I was compared to my sister. This book helped me realize that it's not what's outside that God looks at but what is inside. A large load was taken off my shoulders in reading this book. Now it's "if what you see offends you don't look, God loves me and that's all that counts". Thank you Shelley Hitz. Wonderful book.

Body Image Lies Women Believe: And the Truth of Christ That Sets Them Free
By Shelley Hitz
I wish I’d read Shelley’s book when I was a young woman. So many females are raised to believe that they are ugly, fat, don’t dress well, or have bad hair. They believe that these lies represent who they are. It’s no wonder that women discover they have low or no self-esteem. The book begins with moving stories from real women, who have dealt with lies about body image. They not only reveal their past, they

This is a great book that gives Biblical inspiration for why women believe the way they do. I really enjoyed reading this book as it touched on the problems I have been having with my self-esteem and how to handle them. I plan on keeping it around to review at later times to help friends and children with any problems they could be having as well. Very enjoyable book. Please note: I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

"In society, beauty is [judged on] a thin line, and while we're busy trying to balance on that line, we forget that to the only One whose opinion truly matters there is only one definition of beauty. [Jesus] is beautiful. He created "beautiful." He is the epitome of
beauty. If anyone should be judging what we look like, it should be Him. In all fairness,
when He looks at us, He should turn away in disgust [because of our flaws]. If I were Him, I wouldn't want to look at me either - but that's ju

"Body Image Lies Women Believe" by Shelley Hitz is a book with an assortment of guest writers that write about the lies women believe about themselves and the truth that God tells them. Women tend to believe the worst, mostly because that is what is being told to them. But is it true? Not usually. Hitz's book covers all sorts of body image lies from weight, to gray hair, to being too pretty. The writer than pulls scripture to prove that the reality of a woman's value comes from God and is ...more

All girls and women should read…
I got so much out of the book and think it should be required reading for girls, young ladies and all women. Most of us women have some sort of bad image of our bodies whether we admit it or not but as the book points out God loves us just as we are. The book is full of true stories of women and how they saw themselves in a bad way, the lie they saw in the mirror and then gives scriptures of truth from God. I saw myself in many of the stories. I will always try to

This book is about the personal stories of women; from differing backgrounds and ages. Each specific Lie of the world is exposed as a lie and then what God has to say in scripture is put in its place. A good look at all the personal damage caused by these lies and a finding of your value in how precious you are to God and how He views you. All supported by scripture from the Bible. If you like overcoming, uplifting real-life stories, this is the book for you. I found it to be uplifting and ...more

What a wonderful book. I think most girls growing up have issues about their image. We all are beautifully and wonderfully made by God. This book is really great. We grow up with I believe is a fake image of what we should be like. This is our society that says we must be skinny or just so perfect in our looks. This book is such a good insight. If I had a young girl I would give it to her. Wish I would of had it. Loved all the testamonies. Shelley Hitz did a wonderful job with this book.
This had lots of repetitive whining. Only a few of the personal stories were helpful. Reading a book about people complaining about how their friends and family members have done them wrong is not what I was looking for in this book.

“While I knew that true beauty came from the inside, I had missed the fact that God doesn’t make mistakes. He makes us who we are – forming us in our mother’s wombs (Ps. 139:13), and what we see as our imperfections He sees as His beautiful creation.” 4 likes
