BEFORE I READ THE BOOK: I smell a possible love triangle. Please NO! The (view spoiler) storyline is not something I can deal with again. Ever.

The first book surprised me, so I'm hoping this one does as well!

Oh. My. Ilyan. Wow, what an emotional journey and how much did my opinion sway between this book and the first. Who knew I was going to turn into TEAM ILYAN?? Not me! But I am so in love with him. He is sweet, strong, tender, selfless, and a million other things that make him such a perfect "main guy." Oh, I just want to read certain parts all over again. I really like Jos too. I think she is really coming into her own. I have to second what my GR's friend Kathy Jo said, Oh how I loved the part...more

Well this took forever to finish; at first it was because of finals, but when those were over it still took forever to finish, but before I talk about that-

I really liked the first book it had everything I loved in a YA and I was surprised while I was reading this second book because it had became almost completely Fantasy - which isn't a bad thing because it showed the diversity and skill in the author's writing.

So back to why I didn't really like this book, or thought it was just okay. The wri...more

*WARNING* May contain spoilers... read at your own risk!! ;o)

Ummmm.... WOW!! Can I give Eyes of Ember more than 5 stars?! If I could... I totally would!! I absolutely LOVED it!! Believe it or not... I thought it was better than Kiss of Fire... which is saying a lot by the way because I loved that one too!!

Holy crow Batman!! Talk about an emotional roller coaster!! One minute I was laughing... then next I was crying... after that I was livid beyond belief... and then sighing with contentment......more

I will start by saying that I was pretty frustrated at the grammatical errors that were rather prevalent in this book. So you might be okay if that sort of thing doesn't bother you.
Onto my view of the story...may contain spoilers.
The relationship between Joclyn and Ryland was such a good thing in the first book. I absolutely hate that she has made it such a poisonous thing. It is highly disturbing to me the course that she has taken in pretty much destroying the minds of 2 of the characters in o...more

Overall Score: 4 Stars

Wow. That was some book. I honestly wasn't expecting this turn of events because if you read the first book, it's a complete opposite of what Eyes of Ember brings! So much intensity and action, I didn't know what to expect next. & Ilyan???? -drool- Please please please let me have some Ilyan in my life! I've always been sucker for romantic tenstion and the whole breath-holding action and the author nailed it!

"I was where my heart held out hope that someday I would be
even better than the first! I don't normally rank books five stars but man I was hooked! review to come. :)
Can't say enough good things about this series! I absolutely love it!!! Download it, peeps. ❤

I wrote a BUNCH of thoughts and speculation in Lauren's review here. Feel free to read it (in the comments). Beware, there are spoilers.

As for the book, I really did like it. It got me to think and write obscenely long speculations about the plot and characters. That's a good thing. I only docked 1/2 a point due to the confusion surrounding Ryland. It annoyed me. LOL. As written in my speculation posts, I really can't understand some aspects of his cha...more

Song Choice: "The Girl" by City and Colour, but really it should be called The Boy as i am dedicating this song to Ilyan. "I Don't Care" by Fall Out Boy dedicated to only Jos at the first half of the book "Somebody I Used to Know" by Gotye, and "Sleeping Sickness" by City and Colour for the certain characters/the whole book as well.

Kay first off this is a second to a series, so yes there will be spoilers from the first book, will there be...more
I don't like love triangles because someone (most of the time, guys) get always hurt/ignored at the end. That's why I avoid reading those kind of books, but I really like this series....I'm a mess.
I think Ryland and Joclyn LOVED each other, but that is far gone now. Probably? No? Well, the point is that I hope Joclyn chooses one (although at the end of this book she should already know who's the one for her) because I don't want to read about the "loser's" misery or about how Joclyn can't decide...more
2.5 STARS This book frustrated me so much. If I would have known where this story was heading, I don't think I would have read it. Of course I loved Ilyan, who whouldn't? I loved all of the characters, the story was good, but it just didn't make sense in the end. I don't think I have read a book that made me yell at my kindle so much, especially at the end! My husband was laughing at me. At first I thought it was the love triangle that I wasn't going to like, but then the story ju...more
Though there were some editing issues in this book, I still loved it.

HOWEVER, ****SPOILER**** I can't really comprehend Ry's actions toward Jos at the end. I read his POV on the author's page and I understand he is battling the demons in him. I feel for him, I really do. However, I feel closer to Ilyan than Ry because we have had more time with him and Jos together and getting to know them together. I do hope Ry comes out OK. I love Ilyan, I really do, and I like Ry (what little we truly know o...more

Wow, where to even start? I've had to stop and marinate on this book for a few days. This book is absolutely amazing. It could possibly become an unhealthy obsession! Can I give it 10 stars?

I really liked (almost loved) Kiss of Fire, but I had a couple little hang-up's with that one I wish had been a little different. Not so with Eyes of Ember...perfection! Aside from a few editing errors, that I am more than willing to overlook, this is the best book I've read in 2013.

Eyes of Ember is one of th...more
Wow. Just Wow.

The first book in this series (The Kiss of Fire) was good, it was an easy read that had a lot of action and romance and really awesome magic and all the shit that a paranormal and fantasy lover like myself could ask for. But Eyes of Ember....

It just blew me away.

This book (I can hardly find words to describe it)had everything a good series needs. Love, desire, action, terror, and crippling betrayal. Joclyn is an amazing protagonist, though I can't say I can add her to kick-ass yet...more

Title: Scorched Treachery
Series: Imdalind Series Book #3
Author: Rebecca Ethington
Rating: A

Review: Wow!...Rebecca Ethington never ceases to surprise me! After being so amazed by the first two books in this series, I picked this one up without hesitation, and without even reading anything about it. I have to confess though that I was a bit leery of it when I realized she would be writing it a little differently. Instead of pushing forward with the series, this one instead goes over most of the sam...more

I don't often say that a second or third book in a series is better than the first (with the exception of hunger games) but when I say that this book was truly amazing I mean it. I seriously started it at 9:00 at night and stayed awake until 3:00 in the morning just to finish it. Once again I say the story line is phenomenal (just like with the first one) and every single character introduced or reintroduced is described so perfectly its scary. I felt like the whole time I was reading this book...more
This one is so much better than the first in the series (in my opinion). I loved it, and I'm now invested in these characters. So good! I love Ilyan, and hope for a happy ending for he and Jocylyn. I'm glad she finally got rid of the stupid hoodie as well. On to book 3!
Another 3.5. I'm pretty drawn in by this story. This book was even darker than the first, but for some reason it doesn't bother me. I want to know how it ends!

This one went fast for me. I just keep wanting more!
*happy sigh* This series is just so blissfully tragic.
While I liked this book better than the first one, but only because we got to see more of Ilyan (oh my gosh he is so perfect!), it still didn't earn four stars. Joclyn is one of the most annoying, whiny, infuriating heroines I've read in a while. I felt a bit bad for her near the end of the book, but for the first half I wanted to wring her neck. Most of the book consisted of her pining for her Long Lost Love who now has no memories of her and wants to kill her-- all the while flinching away fro...more
2.75 stars.

While I really liked the plot, I felt that the beginning of the story really dragged. Not much happened, in my opinion.

I've come to love the Ilyan character in this book. I thought he was creepy in book one. I wonder if this change in character was purposeful, or the author wasn't sure what she wanted with his character in book one.

What was a really, really big annoyance to me in this book was the foreign language. Now, a little bit maybe the four same words repeating throughout the...more
I just finished reading and I must say I'm heartbroken. I really wanted everything to work out with Jos and Ry. I know he's been magically beaten and all but I wanted her to be able to nurse him back. They had a connection before they even kissed for Christ's sake! That has to mean something?!? Her last words to kill Ryland really ripped me apart. I really hope she gets out of that crazed state of mind and gets back to where it all began with Ryland. :-(

This whole book was a heartbreak waiting to happen. I read it like oh well it will be ok now that Ryland is out of the picture...NOT! He came back even if it was to hunt Jocyln down. I mean this book presents the most impossible love triangle ever thought of and I just sat there like, "Oh I'm ready for the challenge." Except I wasn't.

All the tumes that Ryland and Jocyln shared just wouldn't leave my mind. Not to mention all the things that Ilyan and Jocyln shared as well. I mean I cried laughed,...more

3.5 for me. The ending was great, but I found the beginning a little slow going.
Goge (BARRONS) le Moning Maniac,
FUCK NO. FUCK NO. FUCK NO. NO Ilyan. NO. NO NO NO NO NO N ONOONONONFV'LEEDK;M FUCK. NO. GO DIE LOVE TRIANGLE! I'm disappointed in you. Author and Jos. To even look at another guy while Ry exists is just WRONG. He's the shit! He is EVERYTHING. He GIVES everything! He's her EVERYTHING too! ughn I'm getting angry just thinking about a forced fake-love triangle! There is only one hero in this series and that is Ry. That's a said and done thing. Adding a newbie fake-love interest just shows you're bi...more
Me after I read book:

I loved this book!!!! I didn't think after reading the first one I could like the rest of the series as much, but I was wrong.

Eyes of Ember by Rebecca Ethington is book two of the Imdalind series and it picks up right where book one left off. Joclyn and Ilyan are in hiding, and Joclyn's magic is dying because her bond with Ryland is breaking. Ryland is gone, or is he? In a last ditch effort to save her magic, Ilyan encourages Joclyn to go into the Touha where she finds a fi...more
