Jitrik is, with very good reason, considered one of the finest literary citrics from Latin America and writing about Latin American literature. This collection provides a good selection of his best-known essays in English translation from over the course of his long career. Overall, I was impressed and his essays have renewed a deep interest in me in Latin American literature.
