A humorous and affectionate story of one man's National Service days. Two million young men did National Service between the end of World War II and 1963. Many loved it, some hated it, but the service left a profound impression on them all, and for most this has lasted a lifetime.

Apologies Tony for the two stars and this is only due to the fact that I think this book would be better received by someone that actually partook in National Service. In-fact I would highly recommend it to anyone that did as I am sure it would bring back some good, fond and bad memories.

Easy read, good humoured and in places outright funny. Well worth a look.

Really enjoyed this book makes a refreshing change to read an honest and often humorous account of the military machine from training to leaving. He had captured squady humour perfectly and it appears very little has changed from the 50's through to now.
Thoroughly recommend this as an insure into what the nation servicemen went through and for a funny view on what army life is like!!!
