All of Tara Sivec’s books have been 5 star reads for me, wether they are hilarious or suspenseful, it doesn't really matter... So I’m not surprised with how much I LOVED this book! After reading A Beautiful Lie, I knew I had to jump right into this one!

Brady was born into a privileged family. His parents had expectations of him. Go to law school at an Ivy League college. Things he has no interest in at all. Brady forges his own path. He joins the Navy SEAL’s and his parents pretty much

This book broke my rating system...

So, do I rate it based on how it compared to A Beautiful Lie?

Can I rate it less than four stars, but still give it my stamp of approval?

Will you still read it in spite of the things I didn't like?

Am I over thinking this?

Let me try and break this down. I totally liked this book. I most definitely recommend this book, and I absolutely love this series, but my star-dar malfunction is based on a few things.

I more than loved A Beautiful Lie. I fell so hard for Garre

The story of Layla and Brady sucked me in from the very first page.
The book starts off with a bang, and doesn't let up until the very last page.

I LOVED the first in this series and was so disappointed when I did not get the great vibes for this one. It was OK, was seriously not going to finish it around 60% in. I knew what was coming. The next one sounds good with Gwen and Austin - here's hoping.

I really like this one. All of my complaints about the last book (too many POV, randomly jumping in and out if everyone's heads etc) were all rectified in this one. I liked the addition of some levity between Gwen and Brady. I think that maybe, for me, there just wasn't quite the right balance between the mystery, and the building of the relationship. I just wasn't feeling the deep connection that Brady and Layla were supposed to have. I'm excited about the next one though - looking for

4.5 stars, I really enjoyed this story of ex Navy Seal turned P.I Brady and mega pop star Layla.

Layla has had such a sad life and Brady soon realises he shouldn't judge a book by its cover when he gets beneath the surface of her pop persona. Nice chemistry, bitchy mums and a good amount of action made this a great easy read.

There's a fab excerpt for book 3 at the end too, can't wait for that one!

I loved this book! I was REALLY excited to jump into this one and get Brady’s story since I absolutely loved him in A Beautiful Lie (Playing with Fire, #1).

Although a few things are referenced from book #1, these can absolutely be read as stand alones. This book picks up about a year or so after the events that happen in A Beautiful Lie. Brady is no longer in the Navy and has been having a rough time dealing with some guilt from his past. When his little sister shows up with her young

Because of You is the second installment in Tara Sivec’s Playing with Fire series. It has everything you could possibly want in a romantic suspense: super sexy alpha hero, hot romance, suspense, mystery, fast-paced action, drama, and angst. This cleverly written story starts off with a huge bang and didn’t let me go until the final page. I loved A Beautiful Lie, but I think I love Because of You even more – if that’s even possible.

Maybe if I had realised sooner, listened earlier, put way pride and belief that everyone has some good in them deep down, I wouldn't be where I am now- fighting for my life and wondering if the person I love cares enough to save me from this hell.

Brady after some bad decisions that led to some people's death. He can't cope with that and he has started drinking and going home with random women. When he can't pay the electricity bill he is persuaded to accept a job as a bodyguard to a pop star p

I am now of the opinion that I love anything and everything this author does. T.E. Sivec, Tara Sivec, or whatever handle she chooses to use for whatever type of book she writes now has a stalker, groupie, and reader for life. T.E. Sivec can write about the creation and many uses of Butt Paste® and I will buy it because I know it will probably contain a twist that will leave me breathless. That is exactly what Because of You has done ... left me breathless. I only thought I loved Garrett in A Bea ...more

"What we had wasn't just a thing. What we had was everything." - Brady

I can sum up this novel in three, little words: HOT. AS. FUUUUUUUUCK.

We all have that one author that holds a super special place in our heart – you know, the one that you took a chance on when they released their debut novel and you had absolutely no idea what kind of writer they were. You just bought their book and prayed that it was worth your time. And then when you

It’s easy to forget about all of the bad memories when the one shining light in your life is back and brighter than ever. It’s easy to forgive the hurts and disappointments when the only thing you’ve ached for is standing right there in front of you.

Because of You is the second installment in Tara Sivec’s Playing with Fire series, and I’m happy to share that she’s done it again. Brady and Layla’s story was a perfect representation of what Sivec does best… which is to command the reader’s attenti

You know that feeling when you're reading a book and something washes over you.
A feeling that you know you are about to get dragged in and there isn't anything you can do about it.
It doesn't happen all the time. And you still enjoy what you're reading, still can fall in love with the story.
But sometimes something just grabs you. It's like the words that you are reading go from letters on a page to coming alive and settling in just beneath you

4 stars!!

I loved A Beautiful Lie and was really looking forward to Brady’s story. I wasn’t disappointed but I enjoyed the first book so much more. This was different from the first one, not so action packed but full of plot twists and angst and romance none the less, it was a great read.

This book picks up a while after A Beautiful Lie, Brady is no longer in the Navy Seals and has set up a consulting company, sort of private investigation and is not going well, he has loads of bill

I never expected this. I loved A Beautiful Lie so much, I figured there was no way this could ever compare. Boy, was I wrong!!!

I loved this! It was a page turner, I finished it WAY TOO FAST.

T.E. got me GOOD. I was at that freaking out point where I was about to lose it and come unglued. SHE'S GOOD... I'll give her that much. REALLY GOOD. In fact, she's becoming one of my favorites!

4-4.5 stars. I preferred A Beautiful Lie but this was good too. I think I felt more with the characters in book 1. Looking forward to Book 3.... X

I suppose 3 solid stars will do. :/

Granted, this book was way better than the first but oddly enough, as I said in my interview for A Beautiful Lie, you could take out all the CIA fodder and put in any plot and probably get the same result. Because Of You proves that's 100% true. It was the exact same storyline with a different spin to it. It also, on top of its unoriginality, had many of the same issues such as bad grammar; certain subplots seemed to be created with the end result in mind f

Tara writing machine. How does she do it? I mean lets recap...her Chocolate Lovers Series is so freaking funny. Then she writes a military action/sexy book Playing with Fire #1 and now a music based romance with a hot guy body guard thrown in. I think she has multiple personalities. Actually I have met her and I am SURE she has multiple personalities.

Layla is a young musician who has the world at her feet. Except she hates her life, her mom, the music she sings, all of it. This is n

Said everything that needed to be said about this pitiful excuse of a book in my single update of it (life's too short). Not only inane in conception and characterisation but also full of spelling mistakes and Dogberryisms that put my eye out. And that first person narrative, the icing on the horse manure cake! Only those with the eccentric depth of Jean Jacques Rousseau should write in the first person. People who have never risen above the level of a 14 year old's narcissism should fall abs

Tara Sivec proved once again that she can write anything and it will be a hit! Because of You was a fun read for me, it didn't hold the same suspense and action as A Beautiful Lie did, but I still really enjoyed getting to know Brady, Gwen, Layla, and Austin (who by the way I cannot wait to get my grubby hands on!)

Holy crap. I know that is not the appropriate way to start a review. But seriously, Holy Crap! T.E. Sivec has outdone herself and this is possibly one of the best books I have read this year. Here’s the problem with reviewing it… I don’t want to spoil a single thing in this book but GAH!

I completely adored the first book. Garrett and Parker are just too hot together, seriously. While I really love this book, I think I love Garrett & Parker's story a bit more, mainly because both Garrett and Parker kick asses (literally), while in this book we get to see the handsome and sensitive Brady Marshall protects pop princess Layla Carlysle. And as much as I feel Layla Carlysle is an equally strong woman, I just miss the w

I'm not certain if I liked it more than the first one, but I liked the first person pov better than I did third person (book one). To be honest, if I had to pick between the 2 books I think it would be near impossible.

Brady is unbelievably hot. Badass protector, putting everyone first & sacrificing his own needs. Yep. I love this man. Plus he's sexy as hell.

Layla broke my fucking heart. Such a sweet, giving girl. I was turned to mush by her story & completely exuberant

This was an okay read for me. Great for a lazy afternoon. I don't know. Maybe it's just me? I'm probably having an off time cause I couldn't quite connect with the characters. Layla just wasn't my kind of heroine. I couldn't stand the fact that she'd let her mom walk all over her. I needed her to assert herself and have a backbone. Plus, I could see what was coming a mile away. This was a hot read though!

Don't get me wrong. I love Tara Sivec and her stories. This just wasn't her best,

I absolutely loved this book. I have no idea how Tara Sivec does it, but she's able to combine mystery, suspense, romance, and give us a little dose of her sense of humor, all in one book. It absolutely amazes me.

I literally could not put the book down. I tripped on my way to pick up my kid from school while reading and walking. I not only burned myself cooking dinner, but I was at such a good part, I let the macaroni over boil and we had mush for dinner.

I cannot wait for more!

Really enjoyed the relationship between Brady the navy seal turned to being a body guard and Layla a famous world wide singer.

A little slow at times, but otherwise a great story line with a stalker and plenty of twists to keep you guessing on who is involved!
