Mixed feelings about this one. It started off really good and I think the suspense was great, but towards the end the story didn't really hold my attention like in the beginning.

It wasn't bad or anything, just the heroine frustrated me at times and there were a few things that weren't very believable (at least to me).

Still, all in all I enjoyed it and did like the suspense.

*I received a complimentary ebook copy via NetGalley for my honest review. As always, all thoughts and opinions expressed

Right away I could tell this was going to be good...

Full of action and suspense!

Strong hero and a woman in need!

A widower meets a beautiful widow!

So perfect!!!

But...

*sigh*

I had no idea this was a Christian Romance when I got it... I figured it out pretty quick. You can have faith without it being smacked in your face every page!! It kind of killed an otherwise fantastic story for me.

Plus, once you figure out it is a CR, you already know that there won't be any steamy scenes.

Damn.

I feel like the

The story began with a lot of promise, I became fully invested with the main characters nearly right away, but about a third way into the book I started getting annoyed with them. Tessa had a secret she's been keeping for years, and it's made to be this big deal, but once it's revealed I personally didn't think it was that important. I liked Seth but I thought at times, for someone who protects people for a living, he sometimes would do the silliest things. Overall, I liked the story but it's no ...more

I have been happy reading Shirlee McCoy's books, so far have enjoyed them all that I have read. Defender for Hire is a fast paced
story. It starts off strong and keeps grabbing your attention. It is a clean read.
The plot is good. Every year for the past five years Tessa is sent a black rose. She has moved 4 times and she is always found. This year she gets the black rose but she also gets a package at work and it moves.

Tessa has been a widow for five years. She works at Cen

I was completely taken with this book. Tessa has been hiding for five years. Each time she thinks she has escaped the past, it finds her. Now it is obvious there is someone out there watching her that wants to do more than just remind her...they want to kill her. Seth likes his new physical therapist but never expected to become involved in her personal issues. When he sees her in trouble he can't just walk away and he fills the role of bodyguard. The closer the danger, the closer Tessa and Seth ...more

Defender for Hire is a romantic suspense story that kept me reading into the night. First we have Tess who has been running and hiding for five years since her husband was killed in a bombing during their missionary trip. She lived for her husband's mission in life, believing in what he was doing and never thinking of herself. After he dies, she is on the run from whoever was behind the bombing, and is never able to build a life for herself. She long ago lost herself. Seth is tough, hardened and ...more

Every year for the past five years, Tessa Camry has received a black rose and has moved to another location hoping whoever is set on tormenting her will not follow. As a new rose appears, whoever is stalking her doesn’t seem to be satisfied with just leaving the rose, he has amped up his efforts and won’t give up until she is dead.

Former soldier Seth Sinclair is seeing Tessa for physical therapy on his shoulder, but it doesn’t take a genius to see the color of her skin pale when she receives an

Another good one from Shirlee McCoy! I really enjoyed the angles on this one. I felt the twist coming, but even still, I gasped when it did, then grinned. Lovable characters and a unique backstory make this book so worth your time.

While the romance came about a bit too quickly, Tessa's battle against her demons from her mission work in Kenya was carried out well. Seth really was the consumate gentleman, which made for a likeable couple.

Finally! I've been waiting a very long time to see the last Sinclair brothers' story. I've followed each story of the Sinclair's from the first one with their only sister, Piper, to now Seth's story. I've loved how this family has always put The Lord front and center, and have trusted in Him and each other through all their troubles. It's a great example for Tessa who has been facing fear and trials on her own. It's a wonderful culmination to the family series. I only wish there had been an epil ...more

This was nice evening read. It is like sneaking a brownie. Just a little treat I can eat quickly. It satisfies my craving without ruining my dinner. It doesn't have nutritional depth but is a solid story with romance, suspense, and good people.

Love Inspired Suspense #9 in Heroes for Hire series Tessa Camry and Seth Sinclair. Tessa is running from someone but doesn't know why or who is after her. It has something to do with her mission work in Kenya when her husband was killed.
