I loved this book. It was so funny & so reminiscent of my childhood. It really reminded me of my brothers & their adventures with chickens. Only a guy would think to put farmyard animals in his van--not too many women would have done that, definitely not me. Nor would I appreciate it if my husband did it. I found myself feeling sorry for the mom sometimes with the antics of her kids, how tired she must have been, how many meals she prepared day in and day out, and how many messes she had to

I would love to give this book 4 1/2 stars! It was a book club selection for us this month and usually when someone tells me how funny something is, I usually get my hopes up a bit. When I started off, I found the story amusing but not overly funny. But by the end, there had been several sections where I had been laughing quite loudly.

Each night my wife and I read with the kids before bedtime. Over the summer, the kids got this pair of books and we started reading them.
We unintentionally read them out of order, starting with Bullies. It didn't make a huge difference. There were a couple of references to the first book, but they were explained well enough that we didn't miss anything. And when we did go back and read Chickens, we already knew who the bullies were when they showed up at the 4th of July celebrati More...

This book was absolutely hilarious. I laughed out loud so many times, often late at night while reading in bed and my husband was asleep and I was trying to be quiet and then I'd just shake the bed with my laughter. Luckily he slept through it. ;) I love how the anecdotes are strewn together to make a story, although I was wondering about the title of the book until almost the end and then that is explained. The sweetest part of the book is when they go to grandma's on vacation and Matthew gets

My brother and sister-in-law sent this book our way for Christmas. It's the story of a summer in a house full of seven boys ages nine and under. I think Bryce would really like it, but I'm not sure I should let him read it-- he might get some ideas. As for me, it made me really glad that I didn't grow up with seven brothers and that I don't have seven boys of my own. The two I do have do a perfectly adequate job of making me happily crazy!

This really reminded me of my own crazy family. I loved every page! I was laughing out loud so much that everyone else in my family had to borrow the book when I was done, just so they could see what I was gasping about. It's about an LDS family filled with young and very rambunctious boys, and there's never a dull moment. It has some touching elements as well, which combines with the humor to create a heartwarming and believable story.

Laugh out loud kind of funny. Loved this book!!! We just got some chicks, so maybe that made it even funnier to me. I want the kids to listen to the audio on our next road trip somewhere, but I want to wait until after they start taking care of the chickens outside. My favorite was the part when he was fasting as a kid. And the dog's name... just a fun read for the family :)

This is the story of a family of five boys and all their escapades. The one who is telling the story has a book of injustices. It is a story of boys of life in Utah during their growing up days. The family decides to get chickens and goats for the boys to take care of during the summer. All the funny things that happen with this family is typical of boys in the family. Very funny.

Delightful experience of seeing life as the second son in a family of seven young boys. Have to admire a mother and father that can keep up with them and stay ahead of them. Loved the account of grandma pretending to be scared by the antics of her young grandsons and then her real reaction when they managed to outwit and scare the living daylights out of her.

We listened to this book on CD coming home from the temple last weekend... NO ONE -- I repeat -- NO ONE wanted to turn it off for the whole 5 hour trip home! Every time we tried to pause it the kids begged us to turn it back on. Alex laughed so hard at one point we had to pull over on the side of the highway until he had control of himself! :o)

We listened to this on the way to and from picking up a new puppy. I totally needed a distraction, and this did it!
The hilarious stories of this family of rambunctious boys made us laugh out loud. Even my 8 year old daughter got into it!
I recommend anyone to read it (or listen to it) with your families, especially if you have older kids who you need to quiet down for a while, or if you have a long trip ahead of you! It was such a fun book!

We listened to this on CD on our trip to the Oregon Coast--the kids were laughing so hard they didn't want to get out of the car! Highly recommended for family reading/listening. The CD's are great because of the voices. Anyone who has boys, or has ever known a boy, will have laughing tears running down their face--guarenteed!

A great choice for a funny family read- especially if you have boys. I guess I'm on a boy kick lately. My friend read this story (told from the viewpoint of the second boy of seven) and told me, "This reminded me of your family!" I am not sure if that's a compliment or not... The boys have hilarious adventures and the parts that made me laugh out loud usually involved the family dog, Farding. Highly reccomended.

I listened to this book and I spent several commutes belly laughing all the way. It's fun to read a book that's about regular life, no fantasy, for a change. The author Matthew Buckley came to my school a while back and his presentation was great, I wish I had read the book before he came.

A compilation of true stories from the author's childhood, Chickens is a hilarious story about events surrounding Buckley's father's decision to raise chickens and goats, and the frustrations the parents have with raising seven boys and no girls. This book made me wish I had brothers.

My dad read this book to my siblings and me a few years ago. When i saw it on my shelf i remembered how much it had made me laugh. I picked it up again thinking i wouldn't like it because i was older but i just wanted to see.....IT WAS AMAZING! This book is funny and has real life experiencess in it. All the things that happen remind me of my family....I love this book!

What a fun read! Our family listened to the audio version on the way to and from my parents house. Everyone was laughing the whole time. I love true stories. The little messages here and there were very sweet. This one brought back a lot of memories growing up for myself and my husband and it was fun to share them with our children.

This book is totally funny! I loved it!!!! The headlight series are about a family with 6 boys who are learing to grow up and having trials (funny trials)along the way. I have a hard time really geting into books, but this one I was all over it!!!!

We listened to this on CD while driving to Disneyland, and Terry and I both laughed really hard a few times. I think I would definitely recommend the audio version. It was great clean fun! And made me glad I don't have seven boys to raise. :D

I love this book. I want to listen to it again and buy everyone I know a copy. It is so real, happy, fun, and inspirational. Yes, it is about a 7 year old boy and his family of 6 brothers - so you may ask, "What can I learn from that?" Let me tell you, a lot. I learned to let things go, I learned everything can be enjoyable, and I learned that even though life is hard there are people that surround you that love you and want the best for you. Yes, I have already learned these things in

My kids listen to this book on CD each night! Seriously, every night! I read the book to the family while we were traveling in the car. We laughed and laughed. The only disappointing thing about the CD's are that the book was abridged.

Nathan read this aloud to us as a family. Hilarious! There were nights we were in tears from laughing so hard. Geared more for LDS people, but I think anybody who has brothers and/or sons, will like this book.

We listened to this on audio cd as a family while traveling and we LOVED it! There were so many times that we were laughing. The guy that read the book did an awesome job! It made our 7 hour trip in the car fun!

We listened to this as a family on a road trip and laughed so hard at times we were in tears. I highly recommend the audio version if you are going on a trip. It will keep the whole family entertained!

Cute stories about growing up with a bunch of brothers that most families could relate to. The author is a neighbor of mine. I confess I didn't finish the book - it was sort of the same thing repeated.

I would recommend you to read this book with your kids. I have 4 boys ages 4-12. They absolutely loved it. We read one or two chapters per night and they never wanted to stop. We plan to get the next one in the series called "Bullies in the Headlights". This book is about a family of 7 boys and their summer adventures while growing up. There are moments of teaching, but mostly of the fun things boys get into. I would have put a 5 star, but it probably wouldn't be as great for girl

My husband and I read this together during a get-away. I was laughing so hard I couldn't breath! A fun, quick read...and fun to read together. We hadn't read a book together in a while.

Such a funny memoir of growing up with a big family full of boys! I have a houseful of boys myself and thought this was hilarious (as did my 12 year old who also read it!)
