This is the sixth book in the series Secrets and Scandals. I didn't think it would matter that I hadn't read the others; just thought I could pick this up and enjoy a nice regency romance story. I was wrong; it mattered, it mattered a little, and it matters a lot. A little because it's obvious this book picks up where the previous book must have ended and it took about 30-40% in before I got the hang, flow, and felt connected with the cha
I really enjoyed this one. The hero and heroine are great, the setting keeps shifting and the action is well-described and keeps everything moving along at a quick, but not too quick, pace.

The scoundrel and the gently-born lady is a fairly common theme in HRs, and it takes something a bit different, or just well put-together, for me to enjoy it, but this one, provided by the publisher through netgalley, is just that. The hero and heroine are pretty well-rounded characters, and both are dashing,

A 286 pages read, and it took me five days to get to the end...
That's how excited I felt while reading this. A mix of OCD, stubbornness, and probably idiocy made me finish it.

There is inherently nothing 'wrong' with the read, and my rating is very likely a case of : 'It wasn't the book, it was me'-kind of thing.
But I thought I had signed up for a historical romance and was tossed into a mix of 'The Fugitive/Bourne I

The blurb got me very excited, a wallflower and a criminal looking for redemption? Um, yes please!

Audrey is a wallflower, but wants so much more from her life than what her parents have planned for her. She longs for adventure and an escape. She certainly dives head first into adventure when Ethan Jagger/Locke shows up injured at her window. I liked Audrey, she has guts and I admired her determination to enjoy her life and escape the box her parents were tr

I received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This is book 6 in the Secrets & Scandals series.

The gist: Audrey is the daughter of a peer. She’s pretty much always been ignored and overlooked by the ton and this is her last Season in London. She’s been giving private Waltzing lessons to Ethan, the bastard son of a peer, who would like to take his place in London Society alongside his half-brother. Ethan has been a criminal since he was a teen and now he has quite a repu

This is my first Darcy Burke story, so I haven’t read any of the other books in this series. While that didn’t cause me any problems when reading along, I do think I missed out a bit on the relationships between the characters. Ethan is not just a scoundrel, he’s a rogue, a thief, a criminal, but I liked him. Of course I did, I didn’t know any of his previous trouble-making moments until they came out later in the story. He reminded me a lot of Nick Gentry, from Lisa Kleypas’ Bow Street novels, ...more

Scoundrel Ever After by Darcy Burke

A Sweet Regency Romance

(This is the 6th and final book in the series Secrets and Scoundrels.) Nice Society girl, Audrey, looking for adventure meets bad boy, Ethan, f/k/a Jagger, running from his delinquent past in this Regency era love story. The mismatched couple end up on the run from Jagger's enemies. As part of the series, many of the characters, including Ethan, have been featured in the previous books although I enjoyed the book as standal

Scoundrel Ever After is Darcy Burke's 6th book in her Secrets and Scandals Series and probably it's most powerful. Using it as a format to wrap up an entire series as well as showcasing a relationship that should not work, Ms Burke does a wonderful job. Six couples who face adversity and rise about it. Six couples connected by blood and friendships.. People with flaws, HUGE flaws and yet willing to give themselves a second chance.
A wonderful historical romance and conclusion to a lovely series, Scoundrel Ever After was a fantastic read. I loved this book. It was romantic, thrilling, and enjoyable. From start to finish, it was just great.

Audrey was a wonderful heroine. At first glance, she seems like a meek wallflower, but only at first glance. This lady was tough as nails and proved it several times over. When she was determined about something, nothing was going to stop her and she was very loyal to those she cared abou

I am reading this as part of a boxed set. Ethan Jaggers is on the run and injured. If he can get to his stash of money, he can get out of town. Audrey Cheswick lives at the address where the money is hiding. When he goes to retrieve his money all hell breaks loose. Audrey shots a man she thinks has killed her grandfather. Ethan wants them both dead & she just tells them to get out. He needs her help to retrieve his money & get over the wall. She decides she is going on an adventure. And ...more
I really enjoyed this book, Ethan was trying to make make something of his life, and Audrey wanted something, anything to happen.
Ethan Jagger want's to leave his criminal pasts behind him, which is easier said than done. He has been framed for murder by his boss because of his lapse in loyalty to him and the Bow Street Runners are also after him.
As he flees he gets attached to Audrey Cheswick, a young women who is being attacked herself by the same criminals who wan't him dead.

Scoundrel Ever After by Darcy Burke needed some more editing done in order to make it good.

When the book starts, you already feel like you are in the middle of the chapter trying to catch up. Then the book drags on and on and, well you get the idea. Then once you catch on, and realize something good might just happen, the book ends.

Jagger has to escape London quickly because he has done something bad, so he goes to get his money where he has stashed it. He climbs up the tree to get it and sees
I did not know this was the sixth book of a series. This was the only thing that did not sit well with me. I like to start a series from the beginning.

Ethan and Audrey' s story is really good. He grew up and thrives as best as he can with shady characters who took him in after both his parents die. He is unfortunately the bastard son of a viscount. There He knows no other life.

He meets Audrey who is a spinster really. She has been overlooked by the ton. Ethan is drawned to her. Poor Ethan does n

A Wallflower banishes her many loaded guns for her passionate happily ever after Scoundrel!

Ethan Jagged Locke Lockwood has too many names & a criminal past that he can't outrun. He is the illegitimate son of a Viscount, scarred his half brother's face, tried to past himself off as "Mr. Ethan Locke" to the ton, learned to dance via the sexy Audrey with her luscious chocolate corkscrew hair, wanted for 2 murders he didn't do, running for his life & all because he was trying to end his life

We got to know a little about Ethan Locke (aka Jagger) in book 5, Never Love a Scoundrel, and when we last saw him he was running from the police for a murder he didn't commit. On his way out of town, he accidentally drags Audrey Cheswick into the mess; the lovely young girl who had been giving him secret dance lessons. Neither one of them is exactly what they appear to be which makes them quite perfect f

I really enjoyed this book. The scoundrel – bad boy – criminal mastermind and the sweet society innocent is a bit overplayed in Historical Romance Novels, but this book has some VERY interesting twists! I mean Jagger/Ethan is not what he seems at all and neither is sweet society Miss Audrey.

I loved the chemistry between the two main characters from the start of the book. They are believably compatible and the two of them are also a

Ethan has to be one of the most interesting characters, and definately the one i looked the most forward reading about. With constant twists and turns, seeing old characters come together, this is the ending i expected and Ms. Burke really did deliver. Audrey is also the most interesting character of the ladies, and has the most to overcome if she's going to get her leading man to settle down. A delight to read, this novel makes you wish this wasn't the end.

I read the very first book in this series then i kinda lost touch with it. Now that I have read #6 it makes me remember how much I loved this Author writing style. I think I am gonna go back and check out 2 - 5.

So Let me start by saying I love ,LOVE a bad boy Hero.....and Ethan is a bad boy and it is sooooo good. I liked that Audrey was a wallflower who had had enough and wanted a to live a little. I thought that the H and h really went well together ans complet

It took me a bit to get into the story. I was a bit hesitant about the main characters, although I liked the heroine almost from the start. Then suddenly I could not put the book down. It became that book that kept me up until 2 am to finish. By the end, I knew I would have to read the previous stories to fully understand the connections between everyone. I would recommend this book but it would probably be better to start at the beginning of the series.
I'm sad to see this series end but what a way to end it!
Audrey is the quiet one. The one who is a good friend to others but often gets overlooked and ignored. Jagger is the bad one. He's a criminal who has behaved in horrible ways and who I never thought I would root for.
The two of them together are perfect!
All Audrey wants is to break free of her dull existence in Society and Jagger/Ethan wants to join into Society where he feels he is rightfully owed a place.
These two unlikely partners wind
I thoroughly enjoyed this. It was a study in raising stakes and keeping tension tight. From the first page, danger and pulse-pounding action followed Ethan Jagger Locke, and Audry Cheswick was right there beside him. This is the sixth and last in the series; I started with the previous book. Though I don't know everyone's story, I felt informed enough that I knew the other four couples and that they were all going to make it in HEA-land. I really respect that Burke doesn't do any TSTL or BMs in ...more

Enjoyable read. I got it as part of a collection, so I hadn't read the first 5 books in this series and would've definitely felt thrown in the midst of things if I hadn't read a review that gave a quick recap to set the scene. That said the story moved at a nice pace and was a fun read :)
Seems like I have been waiting forever for this last book in the Secrets and Scandals series to come out. Darcy Burke does not fail me either. My favorite by far in the series. I love me a bad Boy and Ethan (Jagger) Locke is as bad as the come when introduced to us in Sevrin's and Phillipa's story. Yet Darcy gradually starts his change in the following books. He is still "not good" but you start to see glimpse of what he could really be. For him to be with the ever optimistic Audrey is perfect a ...more

***ARC from NetGalley in Exchange for an honest review***

Book 6 in the Secrets and Scandals Series is not quite a stand-alone book as I wanted but had characters woven in from the previous books. Having only ever read one other, I was lost in so many places and wishing I had a who’s who listing somewhere else in the book. Having said that, Ethan and Audrey’s journey was decidedly out of the norm and certainly intriguing. The whole concept of redemption in this book was quite good (Ethan’s, Audre

This story was well written and flowed wonderfully. It has action, romance, and a bit of everything else. The story shows that people can change for the better so one must never lose hope.

Very nice story. Great couple with lots of adventure. I never read the other books in the series. But now probably will.

Absolutely loved this Book - a pity the series had to end, but all good things come to an end ! Looking forward to the next one...
