The author offered this story and asked for a review, so here it goes! :)

Seth Alwen is a cop, a seer, and suffers from PTSD since witnessing his partner Heather Brady shot to death in an alley during an investigation.
The guilt is eating at him, because as a seer he saw her death but was helpless to do anything about it.
He is assigned a new partner Connor Sharp, a huge mountain of a man.
Connor has his own pile of issues, trust being a big one for him after being betrayed by those closest to him.
The blurb sounded really good but unfortunately the book didn't totally live up to it. It's about Seth, a detective still suffering from guilt and grief after the death of his partner. Seth is also a seer in that he sometimes gets visions of the future which may or may not come true. His melancholy is disturbed when he is assigned a new partner, Conner, a rogue wolf whose family betrayed him and left him for dead. Conner is trying to start a new for himself in Haven.

One of my least favourite so

I thought this was a decent introduction to the series. Set in a world where shifters and magic practitioners alike hide who they are, two cops are paired together, each not knowing the other's "secret".

A series of unexplained events force Seth (a seer) and Conner (a werewolf) to reveal their true nature in order to find out what mysterious entity is causing other supernaturals to lose control of their powers. Unfortunately Seth and Conner are not immune themselves. Such close proximity

This was a surprisingly good read. I got it for free and only glanced at the blurb, but it sounded okay so I said I'd give it a go. But this was a lot more than okay. It was sort of sweet, hot and I really liked both MC's.

Considering this is the first book in the series, I'm really happy with how this one ended. For a while I worried it would have a cliffhanger or wouldn't have a happy ending. But the ending was actually perfect considering where the couple are now. It left me wanting more witho
I was given this book to read by the author through the M/M Romance group, thank you.

Connor Sharp is a rogue wolf shifter and has been on the run from his past for the last six years, a past where his pack attacked him and left him to die. He’s now scared physically and emotionally and finds it impossible to trust anyone until he meets Seth Alwen, the partner at his new job as a detective in Haven City.

Seth Alwen has problems of his own. He’s a seer and was unable to stop his previous partner’s

Present tense can be very love/hate, if done well it's invisible but when done badly it comes off as awkward. Here it was very awkward, add in first person and descriptions become odd. On top of that there are quite a few editing issues 'Jutebox' is possibly a cultural differential of Jukebox, but the man ate stake and his steak was good!

S (Seth) + C (Conner) = grrrr (Me)

Ok, but not exactly thrilling. The writing was a bit clumsy at times and the both MCs were very stereotypical.
They didn't feel like real people - and being a clairvoyant and a werewolf was the least of the problems.

It was a book that mostly left me bored and detached.

For the most part I did enjoy this story, the whole shadow world concept was interesting. I realize that this is the first book in the series and there was setting up with the world and the players involved, but there was just too much going on and it was little too much. I was a little disappointed because it seemed like the last part of the book was just rushed and then it ended. I realize this is so the reader will continue with the 2nd book, but I prefer a book to end and not to be left h

I liked it. I took a chance on this book. This is the first I've read by this author and I was pleasantly surprised. Seth and Conner were robust characters and there was an interesting back story. Seth's visions came at the most (to me) inopportune times but it was part of this book's charm. I loved Connor (sexy wolfie, rowr). As others have mentioned, this is the first in a series so it ended with an HFN but I felt satisfied.

Bottom line: moving on to book 2!

This was pretty terrible and cliched and boring. I've liked some of Zoe Perdita's work in the past but this one fell totally flat for me.

Note: I was given a copy of this book by the author and agreed to do a review.

Overall, I really liked this story and it's apparently the beginning of a series so the story ends on a HFN. Conner Sharp, marked as a rogue werewolf by his former pack, is now a lone wolf in hiding from them in fear of his life. He's spent six years moving around and finally settles in Haven, utilizing his profession as police detective. He's assigned as partner to Seth Alwin, a cop who's recently lost his partner du
This author has several volumes to her name but either this is a very early effort or she still does not master her craft.

This M/M urban fantasy novella is the first instalment in a series of which only the first two volumes seem to cast these two leads.
The story is interesting and writing not too bad but there are many things that simply do not work.

Plot is essentially based on the characters' inability to communicate: Seth looks more juvenile than guilt-ridden and his habit of never telling th

I am not sure where to begin with my insights on this book. I like the story and the interaction between Conner and Seth. I wish there was more chemistry between Seth and Conner. I think this book could use something extra to make it sizzle.

Was this a novel escape? Meh...(6.5 out of 10)
Would I check out other books by the author? Maybe(5 out of 10)
Would I buy part two in the series? Maybe(4 out of 10)

Eh. Ok, but not great. I have nothing particularly good or bad to say about this book. It was just ok. Conner and Seth are fine characters. I liked them ok. The sex was ok. The world was simplistic, but ok. The mystery was ok. It was basically something to hang the romance on and I didn't think it ended particularly satisfactorily. We were given a pretty pat 'and then this happened' wrap up as an ending that left more unexplained and open for the sequel than it explained. But it did conclude.

This was a fairly quick, easy read but not exactly what I was expecting. I liked both MCs and thought the chemistry between them was good but the overall story was hit and miss for me. I honestly expected more with the cases they were working and instead they were more background noise to the characters and their various issues. Not that it wasn't good but I really wanted more since both Connor and Seth are detectives. Things were wrapped up fairly easily overall though (view spoiler) ...more

I enjoyed the opportunity to read my first book by this author. The world-building was intriguing, and the complexities of the characters’ motivations kept me pushing forward to find out what would come next. Occasionally the lack of communication between Seth and Conner was frustrating, and it sometimes jarred me out of the story’s flow. The mystery and murders were not my typical read, but Ms. Perdita did a good job of sustaining interest. I appreciated how easy it was to keep track of whose ...more

Awesome Story

This story has a bit of everything in it. Cops, crooks, murder, mayhem, sizzling sex, shifters, seers, magical healers, secrets, lies, it was breathtakingly wonderful. It all flowed together so effortlessly, and it was just so believable. The pace and the action was just enough to keep me on edge until the very end, and then it's over. But it's not, because there is a #2. And I need to start that one right now.

Just Wow. I can't believe how much I just LOVED this book.

What a great start to a new series. The mystery and the overall sexual tension between these two was just gripping!
I loved how Seth and Conner mesh. I felt it was wonderfully written! I am extremely excited and looking forward to the second book!!

I totally recommend this read!

This was a good start to a cool mystery series! I experienced this one in audio and the narrator's performance was pretty good but his voice for Conner was so bad it was funny! Aside from that the story was solid. Seth is a seer who is having trouble with his visions. He gets paired with a wolf shifter with a dark past. A little predictable but I'm interested to know more about the hooded figure.

I was kind of hoping for more :( I liked Conner and Seth, but when it ended it still felt like a HFN. The 2nd book is about the same couple but I'm not sure I want to move onto it right away.

There are still so many questions though, since the cliffhanger left things unfinished. I hate that.

I also hated how Seth never really shared his visions :(

Shadow Scars

I liked this book so far. The characters are complicated and stubborn. Seth and Conner fight their feelings for each other through the book almost towards the end. They admit their feelings for each other but can not come out at work because it is against police policy. I can not wait to see what happens in the next book. Erin

Great story!

I started reading this just expecting some porn and whatnot, but what I got was not only good erotica but also a really great story! Love the characters and love the mystery plot that surrounds them.
