Playing Hooky is the first book in the Paranormal Investigations series. This is a very short story about Emma and Jason. On Emma's 21st birthday Jason decides it's about time he shares his secret world with her. A world filled with magical creatures, elves, dwarves and many more. Together they visit the Circus and get tangled up in a search for one of the missing creatures.

This was a short and amusing story. I really e

I think my first problem with this one was that Playing Hooky was too short. I already know I don’t like short stories, but I decided that a novella was worth a shot. From the synopsis it sounded like something I would really be pulled into, but unfortunately, Playing Hooky turned out to quite annoying and I barely got through it.

For starters, I had a problem connecting with Emma and Jason. I was also annoyed with their conversations, because half the time they spent talking about past events as

I hope she likes it. The place we're going. Today, I'm bringing her deeper into my life than I ever have before. I'm laying all my cards on the table, revealing all my deepest secrets.

Except that I love her.

Wow, this book was so different to others that I have read lately or probably anything that I've ever read. Imagine a fairytale filled with adventure and the throw in a nice yummy dose of New Adult steaminess and what you have is Playing Hooky.

It's Valentines day and Emma's 21st birthday.

Playing Hooky is an exciting and fun paranormal adventure between two best friends that have a lot of chemistry! I haven't read a book that combines so many paranormal aspects into one book in a long time and add to that this is a novella! I have no clue how Rita Webb fit all of this action into a novella length story.

I loved Emma and Jason the main characters t

This was a quick, light, fun read and I'm looking forward to more in the series.

Emma and Jason have been best friends for years, since they were little children. They enjoy the same adventures and share a stubborn nature. They are also attracted to each other but neither has worked up the courage to admit it. Emma is afraid that if things go wrong, she'll lose not only her boyfriend but her best friend while Jason has hesitated in part due to a big secret. Now, he shares part of that secret with

What you think is inside this book, is not...

How could I turn this down? She is going to school at UAA (University of Alaska, Anchorage). At least I assume so since that is the only college in Anchorage. I had to totally giggle as I read this and dove straight into the read. I asked to be part of the tour after helping with the graphics and falling in love with everything I kept hearing about it, and first off? This is a book you will not want to judge by it's cover.

I really enjoyed this book. I loved the whole concept of a circus filled with mythological creatures of all shapes and sizes. The descriptions were so vivid that I felt I could just reach out and touch them. The authors brought them to life for me. Amazing!

The "human" characters were brilliant as well. I love the playful banter between the two lead characters, Emma and Jason. I found myself giggling out loud on more than one occasion.

Very good, yet short read. Would of loved if the author had explore in more detail but a good job nonetheless.. ;) Emma just an ordinary young lady is taken out and about for her 21st birthday by her closest friend Jason. Jason has decided to begin to come clean on who he really is.. and unlike most girls Emma didn't seem as shocked as I would of thought. Emma is introduced to a bunch of mythical beings and seems enticed by it all. An adventure is started as the two of them must find a missing s ...more

Cute and quick little read. With short stories, it can be hard to get sucked in b/c you have to just go with their assumptions...the author tends to just jump right in. Like how easily Emma believed everything about the new world. It worked for me and I let it go, but my major complaint was with her sister....I don't know if the author will delve into it more in later stories, but I would spend a little more time being shocked about that whole turn of events if I were Emma....

"Playing Hooky" by Rita and TJ Webb is book one in the Paranormal Investigations series, a series about Emma and Jason who've grown up together. Emma has always been up for the all the adventures that Jason has taken her on, so when he shows up at her door on her 21st birthday with her sister Angelina, she's shocked. Jason might've been a little shocked too by catching Emma braless in tank and her panties, as is witnessed by his eyes bugging out. LOL. Jason has a magical day planned for Emma, so ...more

This is a short but sweet introduction to Emma and Jason, best friends forever and secretly in love with each other. Playing Hooky by Rita and TJ Webb

Playing Hooky was a sweet, whimsical story that hinted at a budding romance between Emma and Jason. On Emma's 21st birthday, Jason showed up to take her on an adventure. Adventures of one type or another have been traditional for the two; they've been best friends since Kindergarten. Emma didn't expect Jason this year, though, since he had a girlfriend the last she’d heard. However, Jason is single and has come to take Emma on the adventure of a lifetime, introdu
