Abagail Haber loses her nomadic family and her freedom when a Roman Legion destroys her tribe. Contemplating the possibilities of her future as a slave to the Emperor seems bleak. But when the Emperor marries her to the man who trampled in and conquered her village, Abagail can think of nothing but escaping. This book was a charming historical romance novel with a high heat rating. The historical elements were well-conceived, with a peppering of unobtrusive but interesting details interspersed throughout the book. The sex scenes were well-written, and not too cheesy. Word choice was a little repetitive at times, or awkward for me, as in the phrase "he felt his heart slump," but it was fairly well edited with only one typo in my copy.

Abigail Heber never thought that Rome’s power would invade her life personally but now, abducted and taken to the city, her life as she knew it will forever be changed, if she was allowed to live at all–slave to the Emperor or killed by his hand.

THE LEGIONNAIRE'S PRIZE is a good short novella set in violent ancient Rome. The plot and romance move at lightning speed but I still enjoyed the read.

Abagail is a spoil of war to Decimus, a Roman General. Decimus wants the woman he was given as wife but he must first convince Abagail that he loves her and also longs to leave Roman oppression.

I'm a fan of romance set in ancient Rome and this short novella offers that. The writing is descriptive and flow

As this is my very first book published, I can't help but think it is an amazing work of fiction. My editor was a God Send and very convincing. So many times, I see people say, "Then what?" Well, after this book, pick up with Decimus, Abagail, and the rest of the cast in the next installment of "Caldonia's Captives" series. Coming soon.
