This is the best book I've read by Eugene J. McCarthy because so much of it was personally familiar to me. The Kirkus review given here as the book's description fails to mention how much text is given to the final days of the campaign in Chicago. I was there for all of it, serving for a couple of them as one of the kids who passed out press releases and would link arms in order to allow the Senator to pass between meetings in the Conrad Hilton hotel.
