This book for this reader can be divided into three parts: one, most interesting; two, a little interest; three, no interest at all.

Into the first category come the book forgeries, the art forgeries and these include the Howard Hughes hoax perpetrated by Clifford Irving, the Hitler Diaries for which Hugh Trevor-Roper was pilloried, the Thomas Chatterton 'Thomas Rowley' poems and various other book-related items plus the fake Picassos, the fake Giacomettis and Tom Keating, faking almost everythin
