A simple, fast paced and sexy novel. It’s an incredible page turner with lively characters and interesting story.
It’s like we’re there, close enough to the hero and heroine to witness the events with them. Sometimes I wondered about some of their behaviour, how they could resolve their problems in a better way, and it made me doubt how real their reactions were.
I enjoyed the author’s tone but the writing itself could be improved. Overall, it was a great surprise.

From page one I was hooked. How can you not be when the heroine (Katarina) is abducted, taken to a brothel and sold to the highest bidder for a night of his wildest desire! From the moment Katarina meets the hero (Duncan)--the man who bought her--there is immediate believable chemistry between the two. There is also a power struggle between them that is so real it's nearly tangible.

The author does a wonderful job of showing the reader both the heroine and the hero's motivation and conflict. Ever

I have to start by saying, I anticipated this book's release for a quite a while. While I love mostly all genres of romance, historical romance just happens to be my favorite. Ms. Jaxon would often share excerpts on her website. Apparently, those little snippets did their job and reeled me in. And my anticipation was not in vain. Only Scandal Will Do was an enchanting, sensual read that engaged me from page one.

The main characters, Duncan and Katarina, are absolutely fabulous. It was charming t

Only Scandal Will Do by Jenna Jaxon is, for the most part, an absolutely delightful Regency romp with just a touch of romantic suspense to add the right amount of spice to its story of a marquess in pursuit of a scandal-free marriage and a sword-wielding heroine who promises to give him anything but.

Kat Fitzwilliam and Duncan Ferrars do anything but "meet cute". She's been kidnapped on her way to a ton masquerade ball, dressed as Athena, Goddess of War, unf

This exquisite romance will melt your heart!

As an ardent reader of historical romance I was thrilled to encounter Jenna Jaxon and delve into a deliciously seductive tale set within the Georgian period. London in the 18th Century was the ideal setting for the feisty heroine and drop-dead-gorgeous hero of this terrific tale, as it is as vibrant and as colourful as the characters themselves. This is an incredibly well written novel filled with lavish detail and simply stunning descriptions that ens

I have always had a soft spot for historical romance. It was what I first cut my teeth on and I've taken pleasure in reading them ever since. Jenna Jaxon shows her passion for historical accuracy by describing setting and attire in detail.

The Marquess Dalbury first meets our heroine on a sale block in a whorehouse in London where he buys her for a remarkable sum. She pleads her case to be released, that he help her. He believes it part of a sensual game and makes a move on her. She wounds him,

What do you get when you take the best moments of Pride and Prejudice, Gone With the Wind, and Jenna Jaxon’s writing talent and combine them all into one?
A fabulous story-well worth reading.
Initially, Duncan believes Katrina a skilled ‘actress’ playing the part of distressed lady, claiming to be kidnapped and auctioned off at the pleasure house against her will. He continues to ignore the ‘lady’s’ protests up to the point she knocks him unconscious and escapes.

I enjoy the seductiveness of Regency era romances, and Jenna Jaxon’s Only Scandal Will Do was a pleasure to read.

On her way to a masquerade ball, Lady Katarina Fitzwilliam is kidnapped and taken to be auctioned off at a brothel. Duncan Ferrers, the Marquess of Dalbury, was on his way to the same ball, when a friend convinces him that he should attend the auction. Duncan has a thing for redheads, and when he spies the flame-haired Katarina, he buys her. He doesn’t believe her story of kidnapping

Duncan Ferrers, the Marquess of Dalbury, has a reputation for being a very bad boy. The scandal that occurred the year before caused him to take a vacation from London's polite society and head to Italy until everything died down a bit. Now that he's come home he's on a mission to make things better by staying out of trouble, staying away from scandalous mistresses and finding a wife to help him establish a respectable family. But for all of his self lecturing about not being caught in ...more

I think by now it must be clear for regular readers of my blog and reviews, just how much I like historical fiction. I'm not really sure why, because generally I tend to favour anything sci-fi, fantasy or paranormal related, but for me there's just something about a good historical romance; maybe it's a Brit thing (Downton Abbey anybody?)! In historical romances I often find the female lead is either overly prissy or the male is too "I'm Lord of the Manor" for my tastes. BUT I really liked both

The start of this book was brilliant. The threat of a scandal brought the hero and heroine together, forcing them into a marriage neither of them anticipated, but only one of them welcomed.

*spoiler alert*

I was intrigued by the mystery surrounding Lady Katarina's abduction and the circumstances in which she met Lord Dalbury. I thought it a bit of a stretch that Duncan essentially fell in love with Kat that night, especially since he thought her a whore and she managed to knock him unconscious. I

Only Scandal Will Do packed quite the punch right from the start with Lady Katherine Fitzwilliam being kidnapped on her way to a ball and delivered to a brothel where she was gagged and sold to the highest bidder in an auction. The author did an excellent job of drawing the reader in and making you feel the wide range of emotions that Kat was experiencing.

So I will say that I did like this book. I got this one because I'm going to review the second one in the series and I needed to read this one before I do that. I was a little apprehensive going into this one because they are a lot of mixed reviews on it. At first I didn't like the hero of the story. He is a playboy. Seriously who buys a woman at a auction and then tries to force himself on her? Katarina tried to tell him who she was and he wouldn't believe her. He deserved that bashing on the ...more

ONLY SCANDAL WILL DO by Jenna Jaxon is a delightful escape and not at all what I expected. The plot is much more than boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy and girl get together. Yes, it's a romance and happily-ever-after is a requirement, but the characters' journey to the HEA took unexpected turns and kept me turning pages.

The story opens with action - the heroine is kidnapped in the first scene - and the plot develops from there and doesn't lag. Rather than repeat a description of the plot (rea
The story started with a blast of action with Kat being kidnapped and taken to a brothel to be sold to a highest bidder in a fantasy action. Kat's encounter with her masked buyer causes her to hate him, awake to him even though she's never seen his face. With her escape she gains her freedom back but scandal is snapping at her heels which colors all her decision making - making for one interesting historical romance!

I enjoyed reading Katarina's character, she's sweet, stubborn and headstrong but
I love historical romances and this one was good as far as they go - but not great.

The first half seemed to drag out a bit and, except for the initial scandal on the first few pages, pretty much nothing happens except for the endless talk of the scandal and the duel (which is the main focus). Then there are even more chapters that take place during their unconsummated marriage, where the heroine is constantly being cruel to the hero... Finally, we get some actual romance in the last third of th

What an absolutely wonderful romp! Well written, super fun, with characters that are likeable, loveable and despicable.

Kat was a strong, smart , sensible and beautiful heroine. I completely enjoyed her and how bright and skillful she was. We need more heroines with her attitude.

The book doesn’t start out like a typical romance. This one starts out with a kidnapping and slave auction which than leads to antics, love, and a variety of shenanigans.

The great thing about the book is that it felt fresh and interesting. Both main characters have amazing chemistry and it was interesting to read about them falling in love. Jenna Jaxon has a lovely writing voice that keeps the reader engage.

The biggest downside to this story is that there are sections where the story dragged a

My rating is more of a 3.5 than a 3. There is only one reason why it probably wasn't a 4 and that is because of the "love at first sight" bit. Duncan seems to love her when he has only known her for 5 minutes and most of the time she is just trying to explain the situation. Once I got passed that, I really did enjoy the story.

Kat is a strong female character with a mind of her own and the will to do things on her own. I really liked her wit and ability to stand up for herself. Duncan is a nice e

Here's what I love about Only Scandal Will Do--Jenna Jaxon's writing. She has that rare gift that keeps a reader turning page after page, thinking 'I can stay up just a little bit longer. One more chapter and then I'll sleep.' Reading this book, I knew I was in the hands of a master, that I wouldn't have to make allowances for unmotivated plot twists or information that the hero or heroine should confess but doesn't thereby prolonging a misunderstanding.

A new-to-me author, this is the first book in Jenna Jaxon's House of Pleasure series.

I really, really liked Duncan from the start, despite the premise of his bidding and winning Katarina at a brothel auction. It’s a testament to an author’s writing skill when she can make the bad behavior of a character redeemable. Of course, Duncan was thinking with his cock, having fun with his godson, and it was distasteful to say the least, but I got the sense that he really was a lost soul, just trying to d

This is an amazing historical romance. Kat (Katrina) is a feisty heroine that can backup her words with a sword. Duncan, the hero, has to overcome Kat’s first impression of him – which is no easy task considering he bid on her at a brothel. Kat does not relent easily, but when this couple gets together, it is worth it. Trust and time help Kat understand what Duncan really wants from her.

I love the banter between Kat and Duncan. Kat is fire and Duncan is gasoline, so whenever the two were on the

Jenna Jaxon creates some very likeable characters in "Only Scandal Will Do". Feisty Katarina is the perfect match for Duncan, Lord Dalbury. It takes a lot of convincing, but love finally wins. A twist at the end leaves this reader waiting for the series continuation. I am anxious to read Juliet's story. There is surely a story for Lord Manning as he adjusts to life in London. And what about Bow Street runner, Reginald Matthews? This gentleman's story must be told. I sense some mystery there.

"A blade-wielding heroine who crosses swords with a master of sensuality."
I love this time period with the duels and the clothing and the manners. Jenna Jaxon did her homework to depict it vividly and believably with a light hand. The heroine was stubborn but you had to love her. Those swordfights--amazing! The Duke seemed so bad at first but his tenderness melted me. Maybe that's why I just wanted to shake Katarina at times! lol! I wanted to curl up and read this all day but alas, real life int

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I loved the heroine's sassy attitude and the way that she keeps the hero on his toes.

I the twists and turns this story takes keeps you on your toes and makes you continue to turn the pages hoping that Kat and Duncan will finally come together.

I have to admit I had no idea what happened at the end was coming. It totally aught me off guard but in a good way.

Excellent work.

This book had a lot of action and suspense. It kept you on the edge of your seat. Katarina is drug into a scandal to ruin Duncan, the Marquess of Dalbury. Katarina is a very likeable person and has many people willing to help her and believe her story. Duncan finally realizes that Katarina is telling the truth and now he wants to do right by her. There were some twists in here that I didn't see coming and made this an enjoyable book!
