What a delight if was to read about this amazing man. He is now a role model for me as an educator AND as a person.

I have begun reading life histories about my ancestors in an effort to get to know them as something other than a name on a pedigree chart. Karl G. Maeser is my great-great grandfather on my mother's side, and I am embarrassed to say,as his descendent, that it has taken me this long to read this book. I learned much. I'm grateful for his contributions to the Church Education System, and I look forward to meeting him one day.

I loved reading about Karl G. Maeser. It was a quick read, but very insightful and uplifting. Several of his statements of philosophy were included. "Be yourself, but always your better self" is one example. "I would rather lose my right arm than break my word of honor." I hope I get to meet him some day.
