I'm Sadie and I'm nearly nine. Mum's a childminder, but she doesn't have to mind me. I can mind myself, easy-peasy. Lucky for Mum, because now she's got the flu, so I've got to mind her - and help with all the babies!

My review of The Mum-Minder by Jacqueline Wilson.

This book is about a little girl called Sadie who is 9yrs old and her mom is a childminder. The book is written through Sadie’s perspective, in a diary format from Monday to Sunday, as part of her school project for half term break.

On Monday her mom starts to feel ill with the flu. Sadie steps up to the plate, by helping her mom with the children and really reverses her role as a child by tucking her mom up into bed by the end of the day.

The Mum-Minder written by Jacqueline Wilson is a book that would mostly appeal to KS2 girls. It tells the story of a girl called Sadie; Sadie is nearly nine and considers herself very independent, helpful and mature. Although Sadie is a very young child, she finds herself in a situation where she has to act like an adult. Sadie’s mum is a child minder and one day she comes down with flu. That is when Sadie becomes a mum-minder! She takes on her mum’s responsibilities and takes care both of her i ...more
This heart-warming and humorous story is an excellent read for children between the ages eight and twelve years. It describes the adventures that nine year old Sadie gets up to when she helps take over her Mum's job of looking after four young children.

Sadie’s Mum is a Child-minder, who looks after Gemma, Vincent, Clive and Sadie’s sister, Sara. During the half-term holiday Sadie's mum falls ill with the flu and Sadie finds herself taking care of her mum and also helping to mind the younger chi
The mum minder written by Jacqueline Wilson, tells the story of Sadie a nine year old girl who has to step into her mothers shoes (so to speak) when her mum, a childminder becomes ill with the flu.

The story is written in a diary format and we follow Sadie throughout a half term week, in which she has to help the parents of the children her mother usually minds. Sadie is a very independent and able nine year old who assists her mum frequently by helping with the children in her mums care. She see

The Mum-Minder is among one of Jacqueline Wilson’s famous books. Jacqueline is one of my favourite children’s authors. She creates humour in this heart-warming novel. I think that this novel would mostly appeal to girls. However boys and girls aged seven to eleven years who are in key stage two.

Sadie is a helpful girl. Sadie is eight and her mom is a child minder. Mom got a flu and Sadie was off from school for holiday so she got to help mom. Sadie couldn't take care of all the kids so some of the kids moms must help Sadies mom so the kids went to a police station and the another day they went to a shop and other places. It is a wonderful book that i recommend to all of you!!!!!!!!!

I've read all of Jacqueline Wilson's books over the years, I do not know why even after so long I have grown out of them I still love to have a good ol' read of them.
I must have started reading these over 8 years ago and still remember most of the stories and characters. I believe these books were amazing during my childhood.
Some being better than others, shown in my star ratings. I hope to get my hands on some of my fav books from this author soon.
Dame Jacqueline Wilson (a very deserved title!) is, in my opinion, the best contemporary children's writer. She writes perfectly, in content, theme, style and accessibility for children from aged 6 to 13 (ish - of course this varies among children). She writes flawlessly for children, I could not find a single fault.

She is never patronizing and introduces young people to important life issues such as love, poverty, friendship, adolescence, separated parents, illnesses and so much more, in a mann
The mum minder by Jacqueline Wilson appeals to children in KS2. Sadie is a girl, who considers herself as an independent, helpful young girl, is suddenly faced with an unexpected turn of events. She has to now take on the full responsibility of looking after her mother, as well as looking after the children. Although there are a few struggles Sadie is determined to carry on. This heart overwhelming story presents a real life situation in a fun and approachable way. When reading this book childre ...more

I read this during a couple of rainy lunch breaks I think - I think it was my first Wilson and maybe I was a little too old for it at the time.

I found her writing a little too simplistic at the time and the story rather unimaginative - I can't say her other stuff ever appealed to me at all.

Good for kids I suppose who have to deal with all these life problems she represents and to make them aware, but I didn't like the style of writing, I found it very bland. But again, I may have been a little a

Mum-Minder is a cute story following Sadie, a girl who has to write a diary about her half term holiday. But when her mum gets flu, Sadie is left to take over her mum's job - babysitting toddlers!
This is a nice insight into the mind of a nine year old who is left literally "holding the baby" while her mum is ill.
I have used this with lower KS 2 as a way of looking at how people help each other. the book is easy to read and we used it to look at what might happen in different work settings? Was
love it the best book so far

Recommends it for: 8-10
I thaght this book was very small and easy to read because there was only 90 pages and a lot of pictures. I also found it dificult to try and remember all the names at the start of the book because there where so many. But other than that it was OK. All the children seem so cute. I would recomend this book to 8-10 year olds.
I know Jacqueline Wilson books are for people younger than I but my sister goes on about how great they are so I thought I would read this one. It was quite good and I enjoyed reading about Sadie and all the mum-minding she did. I recommend this book to much younger people as they would enjoy far more than I did.

I thought the book was great and it really put me in the mood to carry on reading especially when my mum is a childminder great book 5/5 or 10/10 its a great book for people to read and it is not to long !!!
A bit too much telling, not enough showing. There are some promising sections. Not as realistic as the later ones I have read so far.
