Newly divorced, Julia returns to the hometown she once swore would never see her again. Her plan is simple; enjoy the cheap rent her friend is offering and stay just long enough to develop a plan to make her own dreams come true.

Ok, so have you ever started a book and could not put it down even to feed your own children???? Well that was my day today!! I read Bent by HB Heinzer in one day!! ONE DAY!!! Housework done.. Nope, laundry finished... Nope, organized for the workweek.... Nope, read an amazing book that is a solid 5 stars.... YEP!!!

Bent has such strong characters that force you to love every one of them, even when they are being total screw ups! I was so wrapped up in this book that I literally HAD to read it an

I got a new book boyfriend! I <3 Micah and you will too! Bent is a story that will have you smiling, crying, laughing, and then throw in a couple of shouting and WTF moments and you got yourself a fantastic read.

Bent the first novel by HB Heinzer is a wonderful story that takes place in a small town in Wisconsin called Brooklyn. It’s a place where everyone know everyone and they all know

Another second chance love story... Im such a sucker for that storyline :)
3.99 This almost made a 4 for me, but I found myself frustrated a bit with Julia.

Julia Wilson is returning home after years of staying away. When she left for college she had wanted to leave her small town and never return for a variety of reasons, but mainly it was a steady reminder of the one man who broke her heart. Now newly divorced, she is trying to find herself again. Julia figured she would eventually bump into Micah Anderson, but she was in no way prepared for it. Wanting honesty from M

So what should I start with in this review.. The good or the bad???

Well, call me crazy but I like to start with the bad news before getting to the good stuff, its like picking a scab or ripping off a band-aid.. painful at first but then it starts to feel better, even soothing...

So here it goes..

The dialogue was hard to follow at times, the book started off really strong but eventually it got to be confusing on who was exactly trying to "speak", I think this book probably would have been told bet

I bought this book to support my friend. HB Heinzer is an awesome writer, and I've been able to experience her writing in many ways, so I figured that at the very least, I've been a good friend by buying the book. I'm not really into romance novels, but I do like her writing style, and she gave little teasers to friends here and there, so I had to check it out.
I absolutely loved it. The characters were well developed, the story was great (I identified with Julia quite a bit), and I really couldn

It was refreshing to read this wonderful story! I wasn’t sure what to expect when Julia was leaving her life behind and heading home. I’ve been there before and it sucks. Then when she meets up with the boy (now very clearly a schmexy man) who broke her heart all of her old feelings come rushing back. Julia is angry yet she somehow finds herself drawn back into hold habits when it comes to Micah, this schemxy man owns his own construction company and is a single dad!

Bent by H.B. Heinzer was a good read but just not there for me.

Recently divorced Julia goes back to her home town and meets her high school boyfriend.
Micah made a mistake years back cheating and letting go Julia.

Now here is where I say hmm, because all her friends were on his side just because he cleaned up his act. Nobody told Julia that Micah was married, had a kid and all.
I can understand that it's hard to forget the love of your life but forgive so easily and run away is hard for me to get.

The descriptive writing in this book is some of the best I've read. I just wish the storyline and flow of the book was as good as the expressiveness. I was left confused too many times at why things were happening and felt like events in the plot line came out of nowhere. To be honest, I skimmed through the last 1/2 of the book because I did want to know how things worked out for the characters, but I didn't feel connected with the story.

This story is about Julia and Micah, broken hearts and second chances. I really did enjoy it and thought the premise of the story was sweet and very emotional.

Julia left her hometown and love of her life, Micah, 13 years ago. Her life as she knew it ended and she made her escape with a vow not to return unless she had to. Unfortunately her marriage breaks down and there is no other option than to return home to pick up the pieces of her life and try to recuperate albeit only with the intention o

This is a story of rekindled love, reunion with old friends & righting wrongs. It should have been a really good book as the premise was there but it was just boring & tame. I had to really force myself to finish it.

The writing was good & characters were well developed. I especially liked Caleb and the relationship he had with Julia. Actually that was the best relationship in the book. As far as Julia tho, I found I had very little patience for her. She would be angry about little th

Another Amazon freebie that offers readers a second chance at love mixed with a big dose of forgiveness and redemption. Julia Sanders Wilson and Micah Anderson were high school sweethearts with plans for an “until death do us part” love story. Of course, nothing ever goes according to plans. She goes away to college and he does a bad, bad thing. Twelve years apart, two divorces and a child later, they meet once again in their small hometown. A first love is rekindled and they find themselves try ...more

I really like this book. I loved both of our main characters Julia and Micah. This book gives us an all star cast of secondary characters. Julia left her home town after graduation. but before she left her high school sweetheart broke her heart and broke up with her. She swore she would never return home. And for 13 yrs she didn't. After her divorce that is exactly where she winds up. That is also where she run into her old flame Micah.

This book is full of love, regret, indecision, heartbreak, p

Horrible book. I cannot believe that I finished it. Julia and Micah were high school sweethearts and when Julia left for college Micah broke up with her saying he could not do long distance romance rather than tell her the truth that he had slept with another woman who was pregnant. Julia was devastated. 13 years later, Julia went through a divorce and returned to her hometown to get her life together. Micah was still there with a 12 year old son that none of her friends had ever told her about. ...more

I enjoyed this book, I think the 3 stars is more because to me I found it a quiet read. Heather Heinzer does write well and it was a pleasant change from the roller-coaster novels I read! The characters are likeable and realistic, my favourite relationship was the one that developed between Julia and Caleb.
I liked the teaser at the end which leads us into the next novel in the series and am looking forward to seeing how it ends!
This book wasn't what I expected. Not necessarily a bad thing, but I do have to say that I greatly disliked Julia, which brought my rating down. About halfway through the book, she became very frustrating and selfish, and as much as I am not ok with cheating, Micah was a kid, so he had an excuse. Julia is almost 30 at this point, and there is no excuse for hurting Micah and his son Caleb.

Great story, kept me interested and wanting more. I am usually not a fan of "runners", though I can see how it makes sense to the story, and in essence might even be necessary. The author did a wonderful job introducing the characters, telling the story, tying up lose ends, as well as leaving room for plenty of sequels.

This is one of very few 5 star ratings that I have given. Yes there is infidelity when they were teens and a child was a product of this. But thirteen years later their love is still there. So now what? They learn to work through those problems. Together. There lies the story. Didn't understand the title until 90% thru but it fits. Yes it is a must read for those who love romance and the bumpy roads that must be traveled to get to the end. But it worked. Will be reading more works by this author ...more
Bent is a second chance book but not typical of most of them. The two main characters, Micah and Julia were high school sweethearts. The week before she left for college he broke up with her with a lame excuse and blaming her for the breakup.

When she returns to their small hometown, Brooklyn, Wisconsin, thirteen years later, he wants a second chance and it is time to tell her the truth. What guy wants to admit he screwed up both of their happiness? He was stupid, immature and made a big mistake

Okay, so I'll say right off the bat that I love reunion romance stories, so this intrigued me. The painful past between Julia and Micah seemed like the perfect groundwork for a heart-wrenching love story. While it didn't pack the punch I was hoping for, I enjoyed the story as a whole.

I liked Micah right away despite knowing he'd broken Julia's heart all those years ago. He was a genuinely sweet guy with some serious baggage as a result of his mistakes, given that he was ra

Julia is returning home to her small town of Brooklyn, Wisconsin after a long absence. She has to face the man who broke her heart 13 years ago, find out what has happened to him during that time, and try to come to terms with who she is and what she wants out of life.

I completely adored her first love, Micah. Yeah, he messed up. He knows he did and he has no problem admitting it or trying to make up for it. He is a little rough around the edges and a single father. He is sweet, protective, vul

First of all, this is a typical romance. I can promise while the book is well-written, it is not earth-shattering nor high intensity. I would call this a sweet romance with some profanity issues (not too major, thankfully) and some sex scenes (that aren't too detailed). This would be a book for adults that are past the young adult stage but not into middle age yet. Both characters are divorced, and there are plenty of references to high school and growing up in a small town.

With the exception of three years spent in the middle of Nebraska, H.B. Heinzer has called southern Wisconsin home. At the time, becoming a novelist was a distant dream for her. Now, she is the author living in that location. Ironically, she later found ou ...more
