This is an insightful biography of an artist who's personal life isn't often delved into. And the imagery is dripping and luscious and plain unreal (for those of us who wish we could say 1/2 as much with our paintbrushes). Sargent's work is humbling and beautiful and inspiring, and I recommend this book for anyone looking to get a small bit of his vision in their work.
