I haven’t been this excited about writing a review in a long time! First, let me tell you about this truly amazing story. Billie is comfortable, almost perfectly sanguine with her life. She’s the triple threat; popular, pretty and a good student. Billie doesn’t have a care in the world. Or does she? Billie has a reoccurring nightmare. That, in and of itself, is not so unusual. But, Billie always has the same horrible nightmare on her birthday and has had it as long as she can remember. Now, that ...more

This was quite an incredible read!! I have reservations lately on YA books because they have been rather dry, but this one was amazing!! Billie, the main character, was quite a unique character with a quick temper and a tell it like it is attitude. She had a pretty cool and easy life until her 16th birthday hit. She was given a necklace that had been in her family for years, and with this necklace changes began to take place. Her eyes were slowly opening to a world she previously knew nothing ab ...more

There is just something about that necklace! I knew I was going to find out but I just had to be patient and let the story take me to unknown places.

This suspenseful ride took me on a real obstacle course not knowing what was going to happen next. I enjoyed the escape that this story allowed me to experience. I connected to Billie and found her vulnerability and her emotional reaction to the things realistic. I really enjoyed as the story unravelled bit by bit allowing me to understand a little

The story was unique and thought-provoking, unveiling Billie’s fate progressively with the unexpected occurrence of none of the characters knowing what gifts she really possesses. The plot moved quickly causing a little confusion at parts particularly concerning Billie’s destiny which could have been a little more detailed at the beginning even though questions are cleared up towards the end.

At first my impression of Billie was one of extreme dislike, she seemed like the typical ‘bitchy’ high sc

The Keeper is fast-paced and fun to read. The premise was interesting, but for me this story is about the characters. The author provides a great cast with many loveable characters and a few villains. Billie, the main character, is strong and brave, and a relatable teenage girl. Her story is about choices: she must choose whether to fulfill her destiny and who will ultimately capture her heart. I thoroughly enjoyed Billie’s journey as she learned to use her new supernatural gifts on her quest. S ...more

I found out about The Keeper because Natalie Star contacted me to review this book on my blog, As soon as I got it I started reading, and I ended up not being able to put it down and finished it in two days. One of the reasons I couldn’t put it down was because the story was so intriguing and very complex. It takes place over two years of the main character’s life, so there are a lot of twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat wanting to know what happens ne ...more

Thank you to Natalie Star for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Wow! I loved this book. I immediately took to Natalie Star's writing style. It was clean, simple and direct with just the right amount of description to allow the reader to become submerged in the story. She had me from page one and never let me go. I'm still riding on the just-finished-a-good-book high.

The story begins with the protagonist, Billie, turning 16. She wakes up from the same nightmar

So, let me first say that I did enjoy this book. I know this rating is a little on the low side for me (3.5 stars), but its only because I just couldn't really get into it like I like to. The problem might have been that it was a little repetitive. But it wasn't like I hated it. Its definitely worthy of your To Read pile.

This book is about a girl named Billie, who has a strange dream every year on her birthday. When she wakes up on her sixteenth, her bad dream has come once again. But even stra

I was given this book from the author to review. I'd like to say thank you to Natalie Star for the opportunity.

The plot in this novel was so creative and fun. It was unique and filled with unexpected twists. The characters were pretty easy to like, though at first I had a lot of trouble understanding Billie, the main character. There were a few parts where I would've like to know more about what she was thinking and others where I thought the auth

When I think of the name “Billie”, like many people I picture a boy. Well, this Billie is as feminine as they come, and she tries to make up for her more masculine name. When Billie is in kindergarten she has a strange occurrence. A man who no one else can see appears and gives her a “gift”. Then at 16, Billie is tossed into a world full of mystery and magic, where love is found only to be lost again. Billie must work quickly to learn about her gift and to discover the true meaning of being the ...more

The Keeper is no doubt an intriguing and complex novel. With this storyline, the main character starts out at sixteen, and goes through several years of her life. So a lot of the book is telling me the story instead of showing me, and I can understand why Natalie Star had to do this. When you put this many years of a character’s life in a novel, you have to do this, but with this storyline being such an amazing one, I would’ve really liked to have seen this novel done in a series instead of one ...more

Well not to sound too corny but The Keeper is definitely a keeper. I completely surprised myself by reading this book. I thought that I would give it a go but probably not like it seeing as I didn’t really read YA novels. But boy was I wrong. I spent a whole day reading the book as I could not put it down and wanted to know what fate had in store for the characters. Well fate as I put it adds up to supernatural powers interfering with the lives and minds of the protagonist and those close to her ...more

The Keeper was a very unique story and contained elements that I haven't come across in any other book before.

The main character, Billie, has a recurring nightmare every year on the night before her birthday. When she turns 16 and is given an antique necklace passed through her family for generations, a whole series of strange events start occurring and Billie has to learn to face a destiny she never knew she had.

At first I didn't really warm to Billie as a character as she seemed to be a typica

I will say right off that I really liked this book: the premise, the new idea for paranormal, and the character actually maturing and becoming less self-absorbed and smug about her life, as she started to learn and utilize her new powers. This is an author in the YA market to watch – I do think a younger reader will instantly accept and relate to the pieces that felt more unreasonable to me as one old enough to have YA readers in their house.

The only real piece that I got tired of was with one

The Keeper is about a girl named Billie. This book starts off in kindergarden where she has dream/visions and there is a boy, well a few boys that are drawn to her.
Billie lives with her mom, dad and incredibly lazy brother Dan. Billie is about to be 16 once the book picks up after her dream of kindergarden. Billie is a mean girl or maybe she is just bored, but once she puts on her birthday present, a necklace, it's like a whole new world erupts. Especially when she notices freak boy.

Well I finally finished this one and I must say I really really enjoyed it! Natalie Star did an awesome job keeping us turning pages because there was basically a new twist almost every chapter! This is a great young adult paranormal book. There is romance, tenn hormones, good, evil, and twists in this story.

This is Billie's story. At first you think that she is the "mean girl". But once we really get to know the real Billie, she is sweet, strong, and good.

On her sixteenth birthday, her life gets a little crazy. Okay, not a little crazy, but full on straight jacket crazy! And it all starts with getting a necklace with a gem on it from her mom. her mom says that it's been passed down to

I just finished The Keeper and let me tell you....what a great book! I loved the storyline and the characters. My most favorite thing about reviewing mostly indie or self-pub authors is finding stories with new, exciting storylines that haven't been approached before. The Keeper fits right in to that group.

This is the story of a teenage girl coming into her powers as The Keeper. She awakens on her sixteenth birthday, not to the normal fun things a girl her age would, but to a nightmare that on

This was my first introduction into YA books. I'd never taken an interest in them before. To say the least I started the book with apprehension. Here I am over thirty and I'm reading a YA book?! The fact that it was paranormal, which is one of my favorite genres, didn't seem enough.

I started this book late at night figuring I'd get at least a hint of what I'd set myself up for in a few chapters before bed. I'm almost sure my family told me they were going to bed, but I was lost to reality. I was

I loved the storyline and the characters. It’s refreshing to see something different done with paranormal romance besides the normal ghosts, Vampire and Angels ect. It has to be one of my favorite books. You really get a feel for what Billie Is going though. If that's not enough, her mother gives her a necklace that has been handed down in their family for generations on their sixteenth bi ...more

The Keeper was a most enjoyable read! From the first page to the last, I was held captive by this story. The characters are very believable and you cannot help but get caught up in their lives. Especially the life of Billie, the girl that hope for the entire world rests upon. It is also an emotional story that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat. Natalie Star creates a world filled with teenage turmoil, angst, and insecurities highlighted by a paranormal twist. An inspiring and highly relatable character, Billie managed to hold on to her sanity despite the unusual circumstances surrounding her. Her attractiveness is not a downfall, she has several boys vying for her attention and affection: even those who should not be. With the vagueness about the prophecies that both characters and reader discover simultaneously, the storyline is extre ...more

Quick read with a great plot. The main character, Billie, is a likable, Zoey-esque (if you have read 'The House of Night' series) narrator dealing with high school, strange powers, boys, random attacks from strange creatures, and of course, more boys. I think this book is perfect for its target YA audience.

Was not expecting to love this book the way I did. Natalie's writing hooked me from the first few pages, and I couldn't put it down.

This was a nice, light read, but had enough excitement and action to give the book a lot of "meat." The dialogue wasn't juvenile or predictable. Definitely consider reading this one; I think you'll enjoy it.

Once upon a time, Natalie hated reading and never wanted to be an author, yet here she is. A little thing called Twilight came along and changed things.
