Edit: Ah, seems like there's actually an Omake in which Alice says that her only wish is to end up on the cover of a volume. SEE! JUN IS AWARE OF THIS. There has to be a reason. (By the way, Raven's wish was to get straighter hair, and Oz wanted a girlfriend. Hahaaa!)

Hmmm... I've been wondering.

The three main characters in Pandora Hearts are Oz, Alice, and Raven. If you look at the covers for all the volumes so far, we have...

1. Oz, 2. Raven, 3. Break, 4. Sharon, 5. Vincent, 6. Lotti, 7. Jack, 8...more

Pandora Hearts, Vol. 2 is a vast improvement upon the first volume. While the storytelling is still confusing, it did flow a bit better. What makes this volume better than the first is the characterization. I now feel invested in certain characters, which gives me the desire to continue on with this series.

First of all, I love the cover. I have a weakness for long black coats and the dark-haired men who wear them well. Lucky for me, the character I'm developing the most affinity for...more

Oh. My. Gosh.

I think I'm going to have to tone down any superlatives I use for this series because it looks like I'm going to need them later on. At least, if volume two is any indication.

I haven't been this excited about a fantasy series since FullMetal Alchemist. And I had the same reaction to volume two in that series as well.

Anyway...

While volume one was about setting up the story, volume two is all about loyalty in friendships, new and old. Oz learns about the Abyss and time. He finds someo...more

Dude, forget everything I said about this series in my review for the first book. This manga SUCKS!! I realized it was really hard to understand in the first book, but I thought it would get better in the second. I was WRONG. And the sad part is, the characters are so DULL that I don't even feel like it's worth trying to understand!! Really, this book is plotless and incomprehensible. Plus it's a total rip off of Kuroshitsuji. Which I am getting annoyed with also. What's with all these younger b...more

Similar to the first one it was a bit confusing at first, but it was easier to get unconfused with since I had just read the first one and was getting used to the format even more and just basically understanding the world better. It answered a lot of my questions which also cleared up a lot of confusion! I am really enjoying the story now and am eager to find out more(and meet Vincent!). Seems like it will be a fun story to follow, the characters are what really make it though, they are hilario...more

Another great installment of Pandora Hearts. At this point, I really shouldn't be surprised. With fantastic art, a great story, and lovable characters, Pandora Hearts only gets better with each volume.

That being said, I'm really interested to see where Pandora Hearts is going. This Alice in Wonderland adaptation is much darker than most manga I come across, so it's really interesting to see the twists and turns that the characters take. This installment of Pandora Hearts only adds more to the al...more

Hn, now i know the reason why i'm a bit irked when i reread this...

1. The opening of the story is sooooo simple minus the "You sin is your very own existence!" which is an 'effin 1/2 page.
2. The drawing! It's still on her level of Crimson Shell! LAWLAWLAWL oh shit nevermind...
3. MOAR IMPORTANT PLOT PHUWEAZZZZ (view spoiler)[no No NO dont tell me that it will gradually be FUCKIN' GOOD because i know that, which is why it angers me more since 'THE STARTING VOLUME IS NOT SO MEMORABLE~' like until B...more

Another solid volume. I saw the big revelation in this one coming, but they revealed it in a very satisfying way and without a lot of unnecessary dancing around the issue so I didn't really mind that it wasn't a surprise. I really like the relationships between the characters, and that's what this volume is really all about at its core. We also get some good bits of back story, which I hope is a trend that continues since we still have a lot of questions. Chapter 7 is my favorite chapter so far,...more

Welcome to my review of volume 2 of Pandora Hearts, where I have even more questions than I did after volume 1 and my mind is too broken from the revelations in this volume to deal with them.

I liked volume 2 even more than volume 1. I really have no complaints whatsoever and am just trying super hard to keep up with the barrage of questions running through my head!

This volume has Raven on the cover, and it finally answered a lot of questions I had about him in the last volume. I finally know wha...more

If volume one gave me a headache and had me confused volume 2 just has me LOVING this series. Its probably because a lot of things are explained while other things (new and old) still have me wondering and still reading to find out. But at least there is the mystery without the headache you know? Mystery I can take. Anyway, I am loving Oz, he is fantastic but Raven has my heart, there is a reason he's on the cover of this volume - you are gonna find out something very special about him ;).
Jamie
The only negative thing I have to say is that the story is very confusing. Explanations aren't clear, and some of the dialogue is hard to follow. Also, when something happens you're not aware of it if you're not paying close attention to the art. I guess that could be a good thing since it keeps you guessing. But, there are a lot of positives to this manga. The characters are distinctive in personality, the art style is really nice, and it has that creepiness I look for in a manga.

Um, yeah, I'm officially addicted. Even without the weirdly awesome twisty-spiraling plot, I'd just be addicted because I'm in love with all of the characters.

Oz, Alice, Raven, Break, even Sharon . . . At the moment Raven is my personal favorite, but the others aren't far behind. I sense heartbreak coming when I eventually reach the end of the series - or the end of each one's presence in the series - and I have to say good-bye.

I'm super bad at reviews. So far I must say that the battle for my favorite character is in the hands of Oz and Gilbert. I dislike Gilbert for changing so very much from the lovable little pushover he was to a badass gunslinger whom still seems overly weak around the newly awkward Oz. I dislike Oz for not killing off Alice the moment he got back simply because I wish death on Alice... but that's just me.
Jeannette
The second volume is even more confusing than the first, with dream sequences that interrupt the action, more shadowy figures, and hints about Alice, the Abyss, and Pandora. An interesting twist in Raven's story (he's the best looking of the bunch, too), and in the true character of Break and Sharon. And I love the way Alice calls Break "the clowny bastard."

Wow! i have actually started to understand this manga! And now that I understand it seems really nice! my friend was correct. At first, PH is too fast paced but later it slows down a bit and actually becomes really entertaining.
Oz was in the Abyss for 10 yrs but it seemed like 10 minutes! And look at that! I was ryt! That tall guy really is Gilbert!
chapter 7 was just so emotional. it almost made me cry. the kid gilbert was really cute but the adult one is also quite good. Oz is just so kind! H...more

Oh my goodness! I know that Raven was Gilbert! I knew it! This is almost as good as Fullmetal Alchemist or Black Butler, but not quite. The pot is kind of predictable and I am 50% sure on how the whole thing will end, but this is still a great series.

[Ch. 5-9:]

I'm still a bit confused, but it's good nonetheless.
I liked the scene between Gill/Raven and Oz in the beginning.
Oh and the ending! I can't believe his 'clock' thing moved!! I knew it was going to happen but stillllll.. >_<
Selena
They did a good job with that reveal with Raven. :) It wasn't obvious, but the hints were there. Nothing should be out of the blue.

Oz is an interesting character. Some might say his smiling in spite of everything is a bit Gary-Stu-ish, but when I look at it, it's a bit more like he's denying what's happened rather than rolling with the punches.

Un deuxième tome plutôt sympa, toujours aussi confus concernant le fil conducteur mais on en apprend plus sur les personnages et leurs liens d'amitié. J'ai passé un très bon moment, les graphismes sont toujours le point fort de ce manga!

Wow. That was amazing. This series is amazing. I love Oz and Alice and Gil and everyone else. The art is gorgeous, the story wonderfully involving, the atmosphere pitch perfect. Older!Gil is absolutely unf-tastic ♥ So excited for volume three!

Also, anyone saying this is a rip off of Kuroshitsuji/Black Butler must have their head screwed in backwards; the series has practically nothing in common and they are not related except for both being fantasy series. And if you think PH is confusing, you m...more
