And I think I need to do another proper review because this series just keeps changing. And I love it.

----

So a few things:

- This volume is not my favorite. It doesn't really show what Pandora Hearts is about.
- Nothing is what it seems. Nothing. No, seriously, NOTHING is what it seems.
- If you're reading this online, you'll have to put up with the not so accurate translations and spellings. It gets better later on, though.
- The art evolves. It becomes so pretty, you might faint.
- Don't go

I cannot begin to describe how amazing this series is. But because you probably want to know why I gave this series five stars, I'll try.

First, the artwork is gorgeous. Whether it's an action scene, an emotional moment, or horror and madness, the artwork always delivers. Though the comic relief isn't as frequent as some other series, it's well done. What could have easily been jarring flows just as well as the rest of the plot.

As for the story, I have never seen a more twisted take on Alice in W

I've been having neck pain lately, which keeps me up at night. So, I decided what better way to divert myself than by rereading a most excellent manga series?

Pandora Hearts is one of those series that I knew I would love once I gave it the time it was due. It's complex, both in plot and the way the story unfolds. It's easy to get lost between volumes (when you're waiting months in between releases). What makes it great, though, is that it's a really wonderful series for rereading. You simply can

When I first started reading this book, my friend Chloe (who reccommended it to me) told me that "Everything I believed was true was in fact wrong."
I'm sure there was more capslock in there. Regardless, back when I started this specific volume I had no idea of how much that would prove to be absolutely correct.
I knew nothing.
Because of this, I spent half of my time reading this manga going "What the fuck is going on?"
And yet, even though everything was completely confusing for 60+ chapters (sorr

"Your sin...is your very being.

After seeing this series constantly mentioned on Youtube, Goodreads and by friends, I decided why the heck not? Then I saw the price. $13!? For each volume? And guess how many there are? (Japanese set was all I could find to show you.)

And that's not even all of them! It's ongoing so, naturally, one would run to the plentiful garden of scanlations!!!! Except, I don't read scanlations anymore. After reading about how little these mangaka's make, especially if they a

Comments are like crack, so please support my addiction here.

Having finished volume 1, I only have one major thought - what the bloody hell is going on?

This is the second time I'm reading this. The first time I read it was directly after reading Dogs and it really altered the way I digested this volume. The second time was right after reviewing Soul Eater, and we all know how that review went, so my second reading of this volume was a lot more favourable than my earlier opinion of it.

Ok, I first came across this series when I had become up to date with another. I was scrolling down the 'Popular Manga' list and then I saw it. The first thing that got me was the cover. The art on the title page was quite pretty so I decided I'd give it a try. When I first tried reading it, I was sort of confused so I abandoned it for a while. About 4 months later, for lack of anything better to do I tried it again...

I have read the printed version now and I think I might have a better handle on things but I don't remember how confused I was last time and I'm still slightly confused now. However, it was still an enjoyable read so I've upped my earlier rating slightly and I look forward to the next volume. I haven't removed my earlier review because I believe it still applies here so I shall just leave it be.

The beginning was a very good one. It caught my attention immediately and I like the idea of the Abyss. I didn't really understand much (I get confused at times) in this volume although I had a feeling PH is worth reading more about.

Oz is the heir to the Vessalius House, one of the Four Dukedoms in this fictional world. He is about to have his coming-of-age ceremony (he's fifteen now) and he asks his servant and close friend Gilbert to go to the ceremony with him. Gilbert refuses and they get in

Well, I'm very confused. Some of the scenes, especially the ones in the Abyss, were hard to follow, but I figured out from the following panels what the end results were. Even though I have only a flimsy grasp of what is going on, I am intrigued! I'll keep on reading. ^_^

And Raven looks pretty cute, gotta say.

I found myself groaning way too often when reading this.

The story and basic premise are not the problem, not terribly original but still a good idea, even if a bit over the top(view spoiler).
And that the book basically throws one plot point and "twist" (a term I use very loosely here) is also not the problem. I saw that before and it wo

Pandora Hearts has Alice's Adventures in Wonderland as the plot's reference, thus madness and nonsense are to be expected. But this story is more than a Wonderland-inspired, dark Victorian/Steampunk adventure of a mysterious, young boy named Oz. This story is complex, and the unraveling of the past's secrets affirms that ignorance is bliss.

This manga series starts off as a tale that is sinister and comedic, then things will make no sense, and continue to do so for a very long, long time. Confus

I chose to read this book because I love Black butler, which is similar to this. The plot of the story is a boy named Oz Vessalius is cast into another dimension called the 'Abyss' where he meets a 'chain' called B-Rabbit(a.k.a Alice). Oz, in order to escape the Abyss, made a contract with Alice, who wishes to find her memories, and Oz wishes to find out what his 'sin' was for being thrown into the Abyss. My favorite quote in the book was, "Even though there are lots of things I don't understand ...more

Despite being a colorful hodge-podge collection of bits and pieces from different sources like Alice in Wonderland and The Wizard of Oz among others, Pandora Hearts has a style and story that is very much its own. What starts out as an innocently humorous romp through an overgrown castle turns into a literal tumble through the rabbit-hole into the world of the Abyss and a brand new destiny for one Oz Vessalius. Oz is an arrogant little scamp who makes a sur

First, just let me say that I'm not a fan of manga. I don't hate it, and I'm really glad that some people enjoy it. So, when my sister recommended this to me, I thought, Alright, I'll give it a try to make her happy. Fast-forward two days, and I'm reading the seventh book in the series, biting my nails as I dread the moment when I reach the end.

I just adore the characters, and some of the scenery is very pretty; there is good art in it, even if you don't like anime. The story is long and awesome

This is great! Very gothic-lolita, with a dark and wonderfully twisted Alice in Wonderland theme. The artwork is enchanting, a great balance between beautiful flowing lines and grotesque and disturbing imagery. I liked the designs of the various Chains, especially the Mad Baby, and the broken-toy ambiance of the Abyss. I can also tell that I'm going to grow to adore Xerxes Break, probably this series equivalent of the Mad Hatter, he seems the type to have a friendly smile and polite word for eve ...more

Difficult to believe that this could go unlinked - by any means. I had always liked the idea of this particular manga, though. You see my cousin showed me the anime first. However as interesting as it was the obsessive tendencies I hold mooned over it for very short periods of time, and by the time she had gone I simply wouldn't keep up with it any longer. I lacked drive or motive at that pointing my life. Despite wishing I had been able to grasp it quicker I will happily say I have it now. So p ...more

Hmm...I'm both intrigued and a little confused about what's going on here. The premise seems interesting, although it isn't completely developed yet. It reminds me a bit of Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles in that there is a search for memories involved. But Alice seems much more intense and able to take care of her self than Sakura.

The characters are interesting and pretty funny so far. I can't wait to really get to the heart of their motivations and understand how they are all connected to one ano

Pandora Hearts follows the events surrounding Oz Vesalius as his coming of age ceremony is interrupted and is thrown into the Abyss, an otherworldly prison for heinous criminals.

The characters seem very flat at the beginning of the series, fitting into generic stereotypes, but as the series goes on, flashbacks serve to elucidate their pasts and explain how they grew into their unique character. For example, Oz appears to be a happy-go-lucky character that can deal with anything, but time shows h

Definitely an interesting start. I couldn't help but giggle at the fact that there are Contractors and a research group called Pandora in this series just like the Darker than Black anime.
Both are completely different stories regardless, and I also got this strange Wonderland vibe from these first few chapters. That might just be me though.

I think this is going to be a really great series! The first volume was pretty interesting, but honestly....my favorite part was the outfits!! XD I just looooooove that style of clothing.

Also, Alice is pretty awesome. I think she's going to be my favorite, but we'll wait and see (also, her rabbit form is pretty creepy!) Break was pretty fun too!

I'm looking forward to reading the rest! So starts the journey of Pandora Hearts!
