Furry Paw, Middle Claw was simply an amazing read. The author's description of his childhood came with such strong emotion and touching description, that I occasionally wondered whether he was describing his own upbringing or my own. As he grows up and faces the tribulations of life, I found the wisdom of his words had more impact on me than any psychiatrist could hope to match. Barry Jackson knows how to pull the reader in from the very first page. At least that's what he did to me with 'Furry Paw, Middle Claw'. He created an irresistible once-upon-a-time pull with the initial stage-setting of his narrative that hooked me and kept me turning page after page. Throughout, Dean (or Mr. Jackson?) grows through his banter with the cats, his trials with son Craig, and helps Melissa thru the loss of their

Decent book overall, but it could have used better editing prior to sending to the printer. It began to drive me nuts with how many words were missing, or where there were double words, or series of words. It was also a bit too negative in parsing up the two sets of parents as total jerks. Yes, they were total jerks, and it definitely affected Dean and Melissa, and how they viewed their lives, and then the life of Craig as he grew up in their home. But I believe that it could have used more ...more

Fabulous book written with such feeling. The author took me on a journey through his life, the ups and downs and the in-betweens. I cried with him and at times laughed at him. Such a great read that anyone can relate to - animal lover or not.
