I found this book in my public library when I was about 11. I was undoubtedly attracted to its hot pink cover. I renewed it more times than I can count (sadly, it's since been discarded...but it might be even sadder that I know that fact). For those of you who know me well, you can imagine how much this book shaped my style and interests. I believe I made my first vintage purchase, a fake Paco Rabanne handbag, shortly thereafter. Hooray Joel Lobenthal!!

Shelves: sixties, fashion
Fun book. I'm not, to say the very least, a fashion person, but this gave me a overview of Sixties fashion complete with solid illustrations. Learned a lot about the differences between Paris, London, NY, SF and LA; about the politics of fashion; the major models. No idea how it would read if you know more going in than I did, but if you're looking for an intro, recommended.

Recommends it for: fashion lovers.
My favorite fashion era is the swinging sixties. This book has all the sixties fads paper dresses, light up dresses, Mondrian, Mary Quant, Betsey Johnson, Biba as well as the classics like Yves St Laurent.

The models and photography is so inspiring it always puts me in a good mood.
