In the thrilling follow up to Capital Kill, former USDA now Officer Timothy Wisniewski is called to investigate a call about a man injured. He certain was. In fact, he has been decapitated. The body is that of the teenaged son of Juan Carlos Lopez-Portillo, the Ambassador from El Salvador. His body was dumped in front of the embassy to leave a message, but the question is what message and from whom?

Soon Det. Dixon Carter Dix, FBI Agent Barry Dorez and USDA Jeff Trask are all heading the new task

Marc has done it again. The author skillfully provides views in his thriller "Horns of the Devil: A Jeff Trask Legal Thriller" that most of us would not experience in our lifetime. And, I thank God for keeping most of us out of harm's way and away from violence. I am glad I HAVE NOT experienced the horrible stuff that goes on in gang warfare. But, I do know that unfortunately, there are violent gangs here in the U.S. I hope that none of us ever gets caught in the crossfire. Why do these things ...more

This was an absolute amazing read. The multitude of characters introduced, all integrated flawlessly into what became an edge of your seat legal thriller.

The story begins as the son of the Ambassador of El Salvador is found brutally murdered, left at the steps to the embassy itself. What follows becomes an intense case with multiple agencies working together. The story follows the lead character, Jeff Trask, a hands on style Assistant US Attorney with a brilliant mind.

As the story continues, gan

Sequel to "Capital Kill," "Horns of the Devil" is another fast-paced and well-written political/legal thriller set in Washington, D.C. With Marc Rainer, you never know what's going to happen until you turn the last page!

This is a novel that is legally accurate and realistic. It's a pleasure to read a book by a professional. The plot is interesting with political back drop and gang violence to boot. It is frankly scary to read about such gangs but fortunately there are career G-men and ASUA's that protect us from their violence and acts of reprisals. There are plenty of twists and lots of humorous lines that had me laughing out loud. I loved the characters especially Jeff and his wife. This is a legally and ...more

Excellent Crime Drama

Just like the first in the series I was hooked on the story from page one...first to figure out what this story was about and then page after page trying to see inside Trask's mind to figure out how he got from point a to point b. Can't wait to read the third installment.

Interesting story, but the author throws a large cast of characters at you all at once and it's hard to keep them all straight. Keeping the political interests/gangs straight was challenging as well. It seemed odd that most of the detective work was done by the prosecutor instead of the FBI or police... I think the author's attorney background might have something to do with that!

It was okay

I am not a big fan of this book despite the many positive reviews I have seen for it. It wasn't a bad read. It just didn't capture my attention times, it just seemed to drag on about minute details while, at other times, skipping quickly through the action.
