Joe: A Real Story about Joe LaNier II, an African American who was raised on the outskirts of columbus in the 1930s and 1940s. Joe could not able to sit in the front o a movie theater, swim in publc pools, or even have his clothes returned to a store because of the color of his skin. Joe battles racist and unfair rules even when he joins the navy. In this book Joe shares his stories of being on Iwo Jima an island in the Pacifc Thetre.
