This volume of Valery's collected works contains priceless articles from his entire career in the area of history, politics, and war. Of special note: The article "Conquest by Method" containing glittering quotes like "Method calls for true mediocrity in the individual, such as patience and the ability to give attention to everything, without preference or feeling."
