This book covers three great JavaScript based technologies very well from an introductory standpoint: Node, MongoDB, and Backbone. It doesn't go into much depth with any of them, but does manage to build a nice simple example of a social network. This book could have easily been a four or even five star book if the code examples worked flawlessly, but they do not (casing and schema issues). Still recommended though as a practical introductory book.
Decent job explaining some core concepts, but didn't go into as much detail add I'd like for some. planning on reading the author's Up and Running next.

Not exhilarating but a reasonable intro to node.js, express, MongoDB and backbone.js. A little long-winded/repetitive. Code samples pretty good.
