Swan Songs: Akhmatova and Gumilev
This is the compelling story of two great Russian poets told through biographies, letters, journals, memoirs and poetry. Their poems to and about one another provide the key to unlocking the secrets of what Akhmatova called "a terrifying and burning love."

Such an interesting subject was turned tedious. Whenever a poem appeared (which was frequent), a meticulous dissection followed, continually interrupting the flow of the narrative. A much better read, which also provides good insight to Akhmatova and Gumilev's relationship, is "Anna of All the Russias" by Elaine Feinstein. I'd recommend reading that instead.
