I loved this so much. It really kept my attention span and got really good at the end.I didn't want it to end.

One word, Fabulous! It's a typical story about a girl (Kate) crushing over a boy (Brad) whom she first laid eyes on, but didn't realize that the better (Joe) is just right behind her. I like the reason why Joe had liked Kate, the legendary love at first sight, gosh, I don't think I'll ever get bored of any story with this concept (lecturing here?), but it's just so sweet. He had been there when she needed comforting (after Brad ditched her for Sinthia, I mean Cynthia), she is an open book wherel...more

Overall a very cute book. I really enjoyed the story and the characters. What you need and what you want are two different things, that's what our heroine comes to realise.
There is something not so cute that bothered me though. It's the lack of reference to the notion of safe-sex. The three high-school girls in this book have sex at some point and there is absolutely nothing that let us know if they used any portection or, at least, thaught things through first.
I know it's a work of...more

This was a fun read, I enjoyed Kate’s character. She’s had a major crush on her brothers friend Brad, and is disappointed when he shows interest in someone else. Kate soon gets to know Joe, another friend of her brothers, and finds that she has a lot in common with him. I thought Joe and Kate had good chemistry, and I really enjoyed Joe’s character. Everyone kind of paired off early on and I kind of missed getting to know the other characters, especially Leah and Allie.

WHAT'S WITH THE NAME JOE?? That's two consecutive books with the swoon worthy boy being Joe. I don't mind at all. I'll take either one.

Okay so I was actually thinking of giving this book 4 stars because it's predictable, no doubt, but..

1) No matter how you you put it, I am a sucker for stories like these. First loves and happy endings.
2) The setting is so romantic with the snow and all that.
3) It being predictable was not the point. I was along for the ride. The i...more

It's about three girls that are spending a school break

and cuddling near the fireplace.

"4.5 stars" Love on the Lifts is a sweet, young-adult romance that celebrates the wonder of first loves. High school senior, Kate, the main protagonist and first-person narrator of the story, takes her two best friends to a ski resort to stay in a condo owned by her aunt, where they are unexpectedly joined by her college freshman brother and his two friends. Needless to say everyone finds someone to romance during a fun-filled winter break.

What a fun book. I loved that things don't always work out the way you want.

Kate is on winter break skiing with her friends when her college brother and his friends show up too. And of course one of his friends is the boy Kate has been crushing on. Unfortunately, Brad turns out to be a major player and not worth Kate's time. She takes a while to figure that out. And while trying to figure that out, she makes friends with her brother other friend, Joe. Joe might have had some fe...more

Enjoyed it. Thought it was cute, liked the characters and their progression, nothing really stupid and unrealistic, but still naive enough to really make me feel good. Dunno, it was refreshing in a predictable way...

I liked that there was a "scary" moment that broke the realization, I loved the hints and how it wasn't clear sailing, the teasing, I don't know. It was just a really cute development. I guess I liked it so much because I developed a total crush on Joe. His...more

For a quick read, this book is pretty much too quick for me.

This is my second Rachel Hawthorne book and I can say I really enjoyed "Thrill Ride" rather than this book.

For me, I think the "romance factor" was really not so romantic. Again, for a quick-YA read, I guess I was expecting more on romantic stuff to get me going on a 3-hour book.

I felt like I wanted to know more about the protagonist's aunt rather than the protagonist herself. Aunt...more

I absolutely loved Kate & Joe! Joe standing up for Kate and being there for her when she was heartbroken about Brad not even noticing her was just wow!!! I was so glad to see Kate come to the realization that Brad wasn't worth the time or energy she spent on him, and I loved the "Kate-have-a-good-time" and "Joe-have-a-good-time" funds, especially when Joe added to Kate's fund and Kate added to Joe's.

And I loved Aunt Sue trying to be matchmaker for Kate and Joe, ...more

Kate and her friends Allie and Leah head to Colorado for winter break to ski, take in the sites, and find a cute ski instructor or two. Kate's Aunt has loaned them her condo for the three week break. To Kate's surprise Sam, her broher, and his two college friends show up to use the condo as well. Kate has been crushing on Brad, Sam's roommate, for months but he doesn't know she likes him. Not very impressed with any of rachel hawthornes books.her werewolf series was good but the other books ive read from her i haven't really liked a whole lot.
her characters come off as childish when they're in high school and yet come off as old at the same time.what with the yoga/vegetarian stuff. i mean, how many teens are like that?
i think she forgot what teens are actually like.

If you like fun beach reads, strong and exciting characters, and just enough thrill to keep you on the edge of your seat, Love on the Lifts is for you. It is a funny and hopeless romantic, with a spiraling twist at the end. It kept me guessing and wanting more, which I definitely got.
Over winter break, a senior girl in high school goes to a ski resort her aunt lives at with her two best friends, and unfortunately, her older brother; but fortunately, his two best friends. Sh...more

Adorable quick short read. I really couldn't put it down. If you are looking for something short and fun to read this is the book to go for. I read this book on a cold night, wrapped around a blanket in my pj's, and let me tell you I think that is what made it better because it was such a quick romantic book that in an hour I was already over and I couldn't believe I had already finished. If you are looking for a wintery teen romance, this could be the one you are looking for.

While the story line was interesting (although not very original), I found the characters lacking in depth and the dialogue was a little unrealistic/cheesy. I can't really find the right word to describe it, but the banter was just...bad. I'm not trying to be negative, but some of the conversations made me cringe.

However, I do recommend this to any (mature) preteen looking for a light 2 hour (tops) read.

Interesting enough to pass a few hours away. However, I found the heroine a bit on the dim side and she didn't realize/see anything the hero was throwing her way till 3/4 way through the book. On the other hand, I was wondering if the hero was a bit masochistic in that he kept getting beat down by the heroine yet always went back for more.

Enjoyable enough, but I've read better by this author.

I really love Rachel Hawthorne books, and this one was no exception. The characters seem to be real people, and I specially identified myself with Kate because she loves reading and does yoga just like me!
No need to say that I love books in which the girl thinks she's in love supposelly with a perfect guy, who actually is a jerk, while a the awesome guy (JOE) likes her and does whatever he can to make her like him and in this one, this plot was really well written, so it's denitely a page-t...more

I loved this book so much, especially towards the middle and the end. I read it in one day and that never happens to me. After reading this book, it inspired me to read more of Rachel Hawthorne's books. I just got finished reading Thrill Ride, which was just as good, and I'm just now starting Caribbean Cruising. I hope I can find more of her books to read.

I was surprised that I liked this book..its my 2nd from the author and I wasn't much for her 1st one but I thought this was a pretty cute book. On some parts I thought the main character was clueless I know she was young but cmon on now some things are just common sense. Either way a cute book to read.

This book made me want to learn to ski and have a week-long getaway to a small ski town and have my own romance. Her Aunt Sue's hot chocolate and bookstore is my dream shop, and Joe is the perfect guy. Can I have Kate's life?

Although this book wasn't as predictable as some of the others i've read, i still didnt really enjoy this book as much as i was hoping for. The character, Kate is pretty in denial though. Unless she's playing hard to get, then its understandable. Overall i thought it wasnt such a bad book but it wasn't as great as i expected it would be.
What i learned about this book is that sometimes people aren't always what they seem to be. For example, Kate likes Brad but he's one of th...more

I guess I'm too told to be reading Rachel Hawthorne.. Her books don't seem to do much for me. I'd probably rate it 3 stars or something if I were younger - say around 14-15?
